[WE] Take your pick

"Destroy the idea that you have to be constantly working in order to be successful. Embrace the concept that rest, recovery, and reflection are essential parts of the progress towards a successful and ultimately happy life" - Unknown

In the midst of all the modern hustle and bustle, it's quite easy to lose yourself, to lose track of the things that really matter. One moment you think that you need to grind your ass off and make that moolah, and the other you just wanna relax, maybe listen to some music, watch a movie, or simply enjoy a cup of coffee with your favorite person. I'm just speaking about myself over here lol.

But,Take your pick...

You can isolate yourself on overdrive mode, just focusing on only one path, or if you really want, then you can slow down a bit and just have a slight taste of it all.

Life isn't all about the grind, the degrees, certificates, career and money, sometimes you simply have to stop and look around for a bit.

Nowadays people are unapologetic when focusing on their career and success, sometimes taking it to extreme levels. Yet, I say that being occupied with work and focusing on your career isn't selfish. If you're young, then you should go at it with full force. But obviously every now and then people should indulge in a bit of selfcare too, we are human after all.

We're not machines, that at the flip of a switch we'll just flawlessly work from 9 to 5, 7 days a week, 30 days a month, 365 days a year. Yet, even machines require maintenance work.

So, a bit of selfcare and taking care of your loved ones even, it can never be categorized as being selfish. There are limits though, you can't just go around spending your money on frivolous items, as you go on marking it all under the "selfcare" tab. That's not selfcare, that's a spending issue, and it's usually the people who do the bare minimum to make a bit of easy money, then just decide to spend it all on their so called "selfcare" ritual. At this point you just have a hunger for material and just like showing off.

A person who works really hard to make their money know the value of money, and they only reward themselves and invest in a bit of selfcare when they've reached a certain milestone. Rewarding yourself for all your handwork and sacrifice, that's selfcare.

I recently had a little moment of selfcare too, and for some it may seem extreme, but in the past 3 years I've lost, suffered and sacrificed a lot. And by working hard I've also made amends in 2022, and things are looking good in 2023 as well. So, when I received a handsome bonus, instead of thinking about the future, investments and security, I decided to go YOLO.

I treated myself to a little gift, one that I will speak about soon. It's a statement piece you can say, but it if I take care of it then it will be by my side for decades to come.

When it comes to success and the grind mindset, you should be restless and hungry, but too much "hunger" is never good.

In fact, to sate your hunger you don't need much, hunger is modest, but greed, it knows no limits.

So, is all that drive and "selfcare" fueled by greed, to have it all? Or is there a true purpose?

"The greatest crimes issue from a desire for excess and not from necessity" - Aristotle

Damn, just noticed, that's surely a first. 🤔

I just got back home after a 17 hour run, 8 hours on the road and 9 hours of tackling new problems. I left at 7AM and now it's 12AM. Wow! 😂

I thought it was a bit out of character as you usually get it right.
