Mother's Day Between Work and Family [Eng/Esp]

Commercial date or not, Mother's Day is a special day. For me, it is a day to thank God for the immense blessing of being able to be a mother and still have my mother in good health.

Fecha comercial o no el día de las madres es un día especial. Para mí, día de agradecer a Dios por la inmensa bendición de poder ser madre y aún tener a la mía con salud.

As is the case with most special days, Mother's Day has always been criticized because many consider that it has become a purely commercial date.

And perhaps in a way there is some reason for that, in the sense that on that day all kinds of businesses offer details and promotions to entertain mothers and of course they profit from it.

But to my way of seeing things it is a day for the family. A day not only to recognize and value the love, dedication and devotion of mothers for our children, but it is also a day to thank God for the blessing of having them, for having been able to give life and enjoy a day with the family.

In my house a few years ago something very particular happens and that is that since we decided to start our business "Detallitos Dulces " all special dates are work, because we have to deliver arrangements, breakfasts, cupcakes and all kinds of surprises and our celebration is most of the time for the next day.

This Mother's Day we did everything possible to make it different and give us time to share as a family and especially to spend time with my children's grandmothers.

So I woke up early with the idea of getting out of bed as soon as possible because I wanted to have empanadas for breakfast with my family, my mom and my mother-in-law, so at six in the morning I was up and about and went straight to do my personal grooming.

Al rededor del día de la madre como sucede con la mayoría de los días especiales siempre ha existido la crítica porque muchos consideran que se ha convertido en una fecha netamente comercial.

Y quizá en cierto modo haya algo de razón en eso, en el sentido que ése día todo tipo de comercio ofrece detalles y promociones para agasajar a las madres y por supuesto se lucran de ello.

Pero a mí manera de ver las cosas es un día para la familia. Un día no sólo para reconocer y valorar el amor, la entrega y dedicación de las madres por nuestros hijos, sino que es un día de agradecer a Dios la bendición de tenerlos, de haber sido capaces de dar vida y disfrutar un día en familia.

En mi casa hace unos años sucede algo muy particular y es que desde que decidimos iniciar con nuestro emprendimiento "Detallitos Dulces" todas las fechas especiales son de trabajo, pues nos toca entregar arreglos, desayunos, cupcakes y todo tipo de sorpresas y nuestra celebración queda la mayoría de las veces para el día siguiente.

Éste día de las madres hicimos todo lo posible para que fuese diferente y nos diese tiempo de compartir en familia y sobre todo pasar tiempo con las abuelas de mis niños.

Así que me desperté temprano con la idea de desocuparnos lo más pronto posible porque quería ir a desayunar empanadas con mi familia, mi mamá y mi suegra, por lo que a las seis de la mañana ya estaba en pie y fui directo a realizar mi aseo personal.

When I returned to my room I found beautiful surprises from the family. My little girl Miranda had a beautiful arrangement with lots of chocolates that they prepared at her school and two beautiful letters. One was made at school and the other at home with lots of glitter as she knows I like it hehe.

Matias had for me a little box made at school with my favorite chocolates inside, some Snickers and of course a letter. That can never be missing on any occasion.

Both of them fill me with beautiful notes. But this year both his and Miranda's were a little different and much more special.

Cuando regresé a mi habitación me encontré con hermosas sorpresas por parte de familia. Mi niña Miranda tenía un arreglo hermoso con muchos chocolates que prepararon en su colegio aparte de dos cartas bellísimas. Una la realizó en el colegio y otra en casa con mucha brillantina como ella sabe que me gusta jeje.

Matías tenía para mí una cajita hecha en la escuela con mis chocolates favoritos dentro, unos Snickers y por supuesto una carta. Éso no puede faltar jamás en ninguna ocasión.

Ambos me llenan de notas hermosas. Pero éste año tanto la de él como la de Miranda eran un poco diferentes y mucho más especiales.

Matias' was in Italian and Miranda's was in English, which made me very happy. Not because they are in other languages but because my kids know me and took the time to make something special for me.

Matias knows that I love Italian, it is a language that sounds so musical to me, so beautiful and he took the time to use the translator and write his in that language. Of course the tears were not long in coming. My boy is an absolute sweetheart.

La de Matías estaba en Italiano y la de Miranda en Inglés, lo cual me hizo muy feliz. No porque estén en otros idiomas sino porque mis niños me conocen y se tomaron el tiempo de hacer algo especial para mí.

Matías sabe que amo el Italiano, es un idioma que me suena tan musical, tan hermoso y él se tomó el tiempo de usar el traductor y escribir la suya en ése idioma. Por supuesto las lágrimas no se hicieron esperar. Mi niño es un dulce absoluto .

On the other hand, Miranda's was in English, in principle because it is a language that although I do not master perfectly I can speak and understand it. Which they know. Besides Miranda loves it, so Matias helped her to make her letter in English and with glitter to give it as a gift hehe.

Por su parte la de Miranda estaba en Inglés, en principio porque es un idioma que aunque no domino a la perfección lo puedo hablar y entender. Cosa que ellos saben. Además a Miranda le encanta, así que Matías la ayudó para que ella me hiciera su carta en inglés y con brillantina para regalar jeje.

My husband, who is not usually one for details and even less for flowers, surprised me with some very beautiful ones, but since he knows me very well and knows that I die for the mouth, the bouquet had tied with a very pretty ribbon several of my favorite chocolates and a cosette (I'm dying for it).

Knowing that everyone took the time to give me a detail, and not just any detail but things they knew I would love and be happy with made my day start off in the best way possible. Despite the work I had ahead of me.

I thanked God infinitely for every detail, for the initiative of my children who on Mother's Day or not show me their love with notes and flowers constantly and for my husband who really surprised me with a nice detail.

Mi esposo, quien no suele ser de detalles y menos de flores me sorprendió con unas muy bellas, pero como él me conoce muy bien y sabe que yo muero por la boca, el ramo tenía atado con una cinta muy linda varios de mis chocolates favoritos y un cosette (muero por el).

Saber que cada uno se tomó el tiempo de darme un detalle, y no cualquier detalle sino cosas que sabían me iban a encantar y llenar de felicidad hicieron que mi día iniciara de la mejor manera posible. A pesar del trabajo que tenía por delante.

Agradecí a Dios infinitamente por cada detalle, por la iniciativa de mis niños que día de la madre o no me demuestran su amor con notas y flores constantemente y por mi esposo que de verdad me sorprendió con un lindo detalle.

So with that happiness I set out to prepare with my husband what we had to deliver to make other mommies happy on their day.

I had to decorate three Baby Cakes, my husband had to fry tequeños and the rest was to put everything together to go out to make the deliveries. Thank God they were all within the Municipality so it would be a little faster.

Así que con ésa felicidad me dispuse a preparar junto a mi esposo lo que teníamos pendiente por entregar para hacer felices a otras mamitas en su día.

Yo debía decorar tres Baby Cakes, mi esposo freír tequeños y el resto era armar todo para salir a hacer las entregas. Gracias a Dios todas dentro del Municipio así que sería un poco más rápido.

Two breakfast trays were the first to be delivered for two moms who are very spoiled by their son and grandson who is in Chile and sends a gift for them on every special date. Seeing their happy faces is something that fills me completely.

Dos bandejas de desayuno fueron las primeras en entregarse para dos mamitas muy consentidas por su hijo y nieto que se encuentra en Chile y en cada fecha especial envía un detalle para ellas. El ver sus caritas de felicidad es algo que me llena totalmente.

To continue we had to deliver a box of cupcakes and a Baby Cake. This time from a client who lives in Argentina and always counts on me to surprise her loved ones who are far away from her but close to her heart.

Para continuar debíamos entregar una box de cupcakes y una Baby Cake. Ésta vez de una clienta que vive en Argentina y siempre cuenta conmigo para sorprender a sus seres queridos que están lejos de ella pero cerquita de su corazón.

And the deliveries continued and I wanted to eat my empanadas hahaha! There were two fruit baskets for two moms who have to take care of their health and that their children from Germany wanted to spoil them in a special way with healthy and delicious things.

Y las entregas seguían y yo con ganas de comerme mis empanadas jajaja! Venían dos cestas de frutas para dos mamitas que deben cuidar de su salud y que desde Alemania sus hijos quisieron consentirlas de una manera especial con cositas saludables y deliciosas.

Finally we went to spoil a mom and an aunt on behalf of her son and nephew who is in Argentina and could not fail to be present on such a special date.

Por último nos fuimos a consentir a una mamita y una tía de parte de su hijo y sobrino que se encuentra en Argentina y no podía dejar de hacerse presente en una fecha tan especial.

In each home we were received with so much joy that it is impossible not to thank God for the blessing of doing what we do. All of them were moms who have their children far away whom they miss madly and to receive a gift from them on such a special day is a cause of great emotion and tears for some of them. Their "children" as they say, do not forget them and that is priceless for a mother.

Finally we finish with the deliveries! Ten o'clock in the morning, with an empty stomach but a full heart.

We hadn't had time for breakfast and two hungry kids were waiting for us at home to go to our favorite place "Puro Sabor ". So as soon as we arrived to pick them up we went to breakfast.

Unfortunately at that time my mom and my mother-in-law had already eaten so we went with Jose and the kids and enjoyed some delicious empanadas and of course the variety of sauces that are really unbeatable and accompanied by a very cold paperón with lemon, so, what can I say hehe.

En cada hogar nos recibieron con tanta alegría que es imposible no agradecer a Dios la bendición de hacer lo que hacemos. Todas eran mamitas que tienen a sus hijos lejos a quienes extrañan con locura y recibir un detalle de ellos en un día tan especial es motivo de mucha emoción y lágrimas para algunas. Sus "niños" como dicen ellas no las olvidan y éso para una madre no tiene precio.

Al fin terminamos con las entregas! Diez de la mañana, con el estómago vacío pero el corazón llenito.

No habíamos tenido tiempo de desayunar y dos niños hambrientos nos esperaban en casa para ir a nuestro lugar favorito "Puro Sabor". Así que apenas llegamos por ellos nos fuimos a desayunar.

Lamentablemente a esa hora mi mamá y mi suegra ya habían comido así que nos fuimos José y los niños nada más y disfrutamos de unas deliciosas empanadas y por supuesto de la variedad de salsas que de verdad son insuperables y acompañadas de un papelón con limón bien frío, así que, qué les puedo decir jeje.

We return home to pick up the mess left after each delivery and wash uniforms because even though it's a holiday, TOCA! The work of parents never stops. Lucky for me, my husband is the one who does it.

At noon we had already arranged with his mom to have lunch with them. My mom would also go because this year my mother-in-law's house is missing my brothers-in-law and the girls since they emigrated to Argentina, so we decided to go with them.

My husband bought some pizzas, soft drinks and we shared a delicious lunch. Always thanking God for his blessings. For the possibility of being together and in good health. With a lot of nostalgia of course but thankful for everything.

Regresamos a casa a recoger el desastre que queda después de cada entrega y lavar uniformes porque aunque sea día de fiesta, TOCA! El trabajo de los padres nunca para. Por suerte para mí, mi esposo es quien lo hace.

A medio día ya habíamos quedado con su mamá en ir todos almorzar con ellos. También iría mi mamá pues éste año en casa de mi suegra están faltando mis cuñados y las niñas ya que emigraron a Argentina así que decidimos ir a acompañarlos.

Mi esposo compró unas pizzas, refrescos y compartimos un almuerzo delicioso. Agradeciendo a Dios siempre por sus bendiciones. Por la posibilidad de estar juntos y con salud. Con mucha nostalgia por supuesto pero agradeciendo por todo.

After lunch there was time to talk and rest. We went up to my brothers-in-law's room to watch TV. The kids went for a walk with my mom and grandpa and at six o'clock we went back home because, as I said, even though it is a special day, parents' work does not have holidays.

Matias had a pending activity for Monday so I helped him with that. We organized uniforms, backpacks and the next day's snack and then I dedicated myself to write about a very special experience we had on Saturday in the company of mommy friends.

Finally at ten o'clock I was already tired. I thanked God for the wonderful day we were able to enjoy. For life. For my two beautiful children that allow me to enjoy Mother's Day and for so many things that he gives me and that many times I don't thank him for because I take them for granted.

Después de almorzar hubo un tiempo de conversar y descansar. Subimos al cuarto de mis cuñados a ver tele. Los niños salieron con mi mamá y el abuelito a caminar y ya a las seis nos regresamos a casa pues como les digo, aunque sea un día especial el trabajo de los padres no tiene feriados.

Matías tenía una actividad pendiente para el lunes así que lo ayudé con eso. Organizamos uniformes, morrales y la merienda del día siguiente para luego dedicarme con toda tranquilidad a escribir sobre una experiencia súper especial que vivimos el día sábado en compañía de mamis amigas.

Finalmente a las diez el cansancio ya me vencía. Dí gracias a Dios por el día tan maravilloso que pudimos disfrutar. Por la vida. Por mis dos hijos hermosos que me permiten disfrutar del día de las madres y por tantas cosas que me da y que muchas veces no agradezco porque las doy por sentado.

As you can see my day moved between my work with Detallitos Dulces, special moments with my family and my work as a mom. And that's why we definitely deserve a special day hehehe. Mothers, professionals, workers, wives, daughters, and stop counting!

I hope you all felt loved. But above all, I hope you are always respected and valued. This is my greatest wish for each of the mommies that are part of this beautiful community.

Como ven mi día se movió entre mi trabajo con Detallitos Dulces, momentos especiales con mi familia y mis labores como mamá. Y es que definitivamente por eso nos merecemos un día especial jejeje. Madres, profesionales, trabajadoras, esposas, hijas y pare de contar!

Espero que todas se hayan sentido muy queridas. Pero que sobre todas las cosas sean respetadas y valoradas siempre. Es mi mayor deseo para cada una de las mamitas que forman parte de ésta linda comunidad.
