Organizador de accesorios en forma de cactus/Cactus-shaped accessory organiser 🌵✂️

Hello gente creativa de Hive! Como les comenté ayer por aquí sigo trabajando en cositas para decorar la habitación de Miranda, pero sinceramente sentía que estaba mono temática por lo que no les había compartido los últimos proyectos, aunque sí los documenté y hoy les quiero mostrar uno que me gustó muchísimo porque no solo es muy lindo, sino que es súper útil, y se trata de un organizador de accesorios en forma de cactus.

Hello, creative folks at Hive! As I mentioned yesterday, I’m still working on little bits and bobs to decorate Miranda’s room, but to be honest, I felt it was getting a bit too one-sided, which is why I hadn’t shared my latest projects with you – although I did document them. Today, I want to show you one that I really loved because it’s not only very pretty but also super useful: a cactus-shaped accessory organiser.

Un proyecto que aunque está elaborado con cartón luce realmente lindo y me esforcé un montón en lograr un bonito acabado porque ustedes saben que tengo mis mañas y me gusta que todo se vea lo más prolijo posible y lo mejor de todo es que a Miranda le encantó y yo quedé muy feliz con el resultado.

Y ahora sin más que decir, vamos con el paso a paso.

Although this project is made from cardboard, it looks really lovely, and I put a lot of effort into achieving a nice finish because, as you know, I’m a bit of a perfectionist and I like everything to look as neat as possible. Best of all, Miranda loved it and I was really happy with the result.

And now, without further ado, let’s get started with the step-by-step guide.

Paso a paso/ Step by step

Para la elaboración de este organizador de accesorios como les dije arriba utilicé cartón, en este caso el de una caja bastante gruesa, ya que quería que el organizador fuese lo suficientemente firme, y además me aseguré de cortar una pieza que no tuviese ningún tipo de doblez para que luciera lo mejor posible.

Seguidamente tracé la figura del cactus del tamaño que quería el organizador y para no dañar el cartón decidí cortarlo con el cutter en lugar de la tijera y definitivamente fue una buena elección porque la pieza quedó perfecta.

To make this accessory organiser, as I mentioned earlier, I used cardboard – in this case, from a fairly thick box – as I wanted the organiser to be sturdy enough. I also made sure to cut a piece that didn’t have any creases so that it would look as good as possible.

Next, I traced the outline of the cactus to the size I wanted for the organiser, and to avoid damaging the cardboard, I decided to cut it with a craft knife rather than scissors – which was definitely the right choice, as the piece turned out perfectly.

Lo siguiente que hice fue cubrir los bordes del cartón para garantizar un acabado más prolijo y esto lo hice cortando tiras de cartulina del grosor del cartón y las pegué por todo el borde de la figura con el silicón frío.

The next thing I did was to cover the edges of the cardboard to ensure a neater finish; I did this by cutting strips of cardstock the same thickness as the cardboard and sticking them all around the edge of the figure using cold silicone glue.

Seguidamente tracé la figura del cactus en la cartulina blanca, recorté y pegué con el silicón frío para lograr un mejor acabado.

I then traced the outline of the cactus onto the white card, cut it out and stuck it down using cold glue to give it a neater finish.

El siguiente paso fue preparar una mezcla de yeso a la que agregué pintura blanca dejándola con una textura bastante gruesa y la extendí por toda la pieza cubriéndola completamente, asegurándome de rellenar cualquier huequito en los bordes donde se unen las piezas de cartulina.

Una vez el yeso estuvo seco lo pinté con la pintura verde menta dando varias capas hasta cubrir muy bien.

The next step was to prepare a plaster mixture to which I added white paint, giving it a fairly thick consistency, and I spread it all over the piece, covering it completely, making sure to fill in any small gaps at the edges where the pieces of card meet.

Once the plaster had dried, I painted it with mint green paint, applying several coats until it was thoroughly covered.

El siguiente paso fue elaborar dos pequeñas flores en color rosa, y para esto utilicé el papel de seda del cual corté dos tiras largas de dos centímetros de ancho y corté pequeñas tiras tal como ven en la imagen para luego enrollarlas y crear nuestras flores, y cuando estuvieron del tamaño deseado sellé con silicón caliente para luego fijarla al cactus con la pistola de silicón.

The next step was to make two small pink flowers. To do this, I used tissue paper, from which I cut two long strips two centimetres wide, and then cut small strips as you can see in the picture. I rolled these up to create the flowers, and once they were the right size, I sealed them with hot glue before attaching them to the cactus using the glue gun.

El siguiente paso fue abrir pequeños agujeros con ayuda de la punta de un palito de brocheta para colocar las "espinas" que serán las que van a servirnos para colgar los accesorios, y estas las hice con palillos que corté en diferentes tamaños y los fijé en los hoyitos con el silicón frío y de esta forma estuvo listo este hermoso organizador de accesorios en forma de cactus para la habitación de mi muñeca.

The next step was to make small holes using the tip of a skewer to insert the "spines", which we’ll use to hang the accessories, and I made these by cutting toothpicks into different sizes and securing them in the little holes with cold silicone, and just like that, this beautiful accessory organiser in the shape of a cactus for my doll’s room was ready.

Como pueden ver, el resultado es súper lindo y se ve precioso en una de las repisas del closet de Miranda.

As you can see, the result is absolutely lovely and looks gorgeous on one of the shelves in Miranda’s wardrobe.
