Crew 3 - Second Biggest Source to Leofinance Traffic

We need more Crew3 campaigns

I already miss the excitement. Remember the days when there were bounties for you to gather. You were scrambling to figure out what task you missed and what else you needed to do to score a few points. Well, that’s true for me and some 40 odd leofinance users who took part (seriously) in the recently completed crew3 campaigns.

I think the event was a grand success. I managed to reach the 15th position and received 5K Leo Power in delegation from the team. The crew3 event was a genius of a masterstroke @leogrowth introduced to generate engagement on Leo threads.

@rmsadkri and microblogging

I have been a regular Leo threads user from the beginning. I genuinely believe that the short form content is how information is consumed by the masses. The long form posts are for intellectual discourse and for other objectives. Microblogging gives you freedom. Mass adoption of Hive content will happen if we can make the consumption fun.

We need a little push to make sure this alpha UI has a critical mass of users by the time we are in production. The genuine engagement we had from various communities on threads during the event has slowed down a bit. There are a couple of communities like #silverbloggers managed to maintain the threading streak. Apart from that I do not think I am seeing members from other communities are threading regularly. I could be wrong.

What does Bing AI has to say about Leofinance?

Well, that’s that. My main point here is to share a fact that I found while playing with the new Bing AI. The Edge browser has Bing AI incorporated in the side bar. The AI can access the webpage users are viewing (if given access) and provide them with nice insights. I wanted to see what information Bing AI will give when I am on alpha UI. Turns out, there are interesting sets of information.

Let me breakdown

The first piece of information displayed as a “info-snap” from leopedia.io. It means the AI took information from the leopedia page to display and provided a link for users to follow through.

The AI was wrong in categorizing the site. The site was linked to an accounting firm in Paris with the same name. I followed the link, and it was to the LinkedIn page of the firm in Paris. AI is not always right, mind you.

Just to note- the data displayed by Bing is based on anonymous data aggregation from Bing and Edge. There is only a tiny percentage of users out there using edge browser and Bing search.

With this data source caveat, it is safe to say that 42% of the users accessing Leofinance from edge browser are from the US followed by India, South Africa and Venezuela. Interesting stuff.

The insights also displayed the data on monthly traffic. Interestingly the graph showed a 30% monthly increase to January 2023 and then a 35% drop in February showing the traffic was higher in January than in December and February. There is no March data yet.

Thirty percents of the users come to leofinance.io using search engines (Bing in this case) and 70% from other websites. Interestingly, the top three contributing sites are peakd.com, crew3.xyz and hive.io. I am amazed how much impact the recent crew3 event had on leofinance website.

Crew3 impact

I know that this data is just a subset of a larger dataset. However, it provides a glimpse of the value the crew3 campaign had in bringing traffic to leofinance. The crew3 page is the second biggest traffic source just after a month-long campaign. Imagine what we can do with sustainable and ongoing campaign up until December 2023. This will be massive.

I wonder what it would have shown for the original LeoFinance site (which I still use BTW).

I wish there was some way that #Threads could capture the excitement of #LeoMarketTalk The "threaded" comments could be either short or long, and it was where we first learned about many new inititives on Hive.

We would all compete with each other to find links to interesting stories that would get people talking.

I mentioned finding that link to the deepest cave in the world before, and it must have gotten 50 responses that day. It was a lot of fun when something would "hit"

At one point, it became so popular that Task would have to split the thread into two in order to keep it managable.

We also liked it and responded when Task would remind everyone to go "collect their candies" at the start of each new daily thread. It was like a little club and it was FUN!

I think it is for the leofinance.io site and not threads.

Leo threads should be self sustained at one point but it needs backing like you are mentioning to stand and run. That's where #crew3 campaign could help.

Ah I was invited to participate in the Leo growth thing for crew and was honored to be asked to participate but it came at a brutal time of work for me and then vacation. Hopefully I can get in on the future waves but that’s awesome to see it had a great impact!

Boo AI but it helped me search info. There are good use cases as well :)

All good. I am sure the team will bring more of those initiatives in 2023.

I only learned about Crew3 recently (from the ALTER community - on Discord). Crew3 seems promising but has to be consistently updated in order to keep the energy going!

I agree. And, the project team need either volunteers or staff to keep that running.

I agree. The structure is good and there are incentives for participating users.

Also, anything that's avoiding legacy platforms is a win in my opinion
