Dear all friends. Today I woke up at 4 am when I heard the call to prayer from the mosque. I immediately cleaned myself and went to the mosque. When the iqomat was echoed, I just arrived at the mosque's courtyard. But it's okay because I can still pray together.

It was getting late and I immediately cleaned up the children's study area. After sweeping and mopping I took the time to have breakfast with fried rice as recycled food because there was leftover rice last night. We usually do this because we don't want to waste food.

Challenge

At 09.00 the children studying began to arrive. One by one we serve. We find various types of children in the process of learning to read. All of that makes us as a learning institution to read challenged to provide solutions for children.
Some of the challenges we face are:
1. Passion for Learning
There are still many children who want to learn only because of the wishes of their parents. Often children go on strike to learn. In cases like this we will use the intermezo tactic. Interesting greetings and chats will make children feel closer to the teacher. We will not force him to learn directly. We use the approach method by asking what activities have been done recently, what to eat or other interesting things. After that, we started to talk about the ideals and abilities that we aspired to in reading and writing.
For example, a child aspires to be a pilot, so we explain that a pilot must be able to read so as not to fly the plane wrong. After that we provoke with rhetorical questions. In order to read, we must learn to read...
At that time the child will continue the sentence with the word reading. If this has happened then the child has started to be willing to compromise to learn.

2. Lack of focus and hyperactivity
Many children experience a lack of focus in learning. They will be very easily distracted by their surroundings. When they read and a child passes by then he will turn and change his attention. There are even students who have consulted a doctor experiencing hyperactivity.
In this case, I usually ask the child to sit down and not make too many movements. Indeed, we need to be firm. For example, when a child lowers his hand from the table, I will ask him to return his hand to the table and pay attention to the reading.
The key word in learning to read is that children must sit quietly. After we get the focus, our children will be able to invite children to learn.

3. Unbalanced reading and writing skills
Children's ability to read and write also varies. There are times when we encounter children who are fluent in reading, it could be that their fine motor skills are lacking so they can write more slowly. In some children, the opposite happened, they were more fluent in writing but had difficulty in reading.

In cases like this the teacher needs patience. The technique we use is memory walkway. We use words that are easy for children to remember to read or write.

4.Articulation
The challenge that cannot be forgotten is the pronunciation of readings in children. Some children have difficulty pronouncing consonants fluently. Some students still have difficulty pronouncing the consonants S, K, G, L and R. There are also students who have difficulty distinguishing b and d, m and n, p and q.
In this case I gave different therapies. I did a massage on the earlobe to stimulate the nerves and added some therapy to overcome the lisp. In essence we will do all the best so that children can grow and develop well.

All these challenges forced us to do our best to overcome them. Thank God the children were able to successfully participate in the program.

Thus my writing this time may be useful.
Best regard from Indonesia.
