Eid Far From Home: Past Experience

Tomorrow we will be celebrating Eid and yes, it will be in my hometown. The excitement of Eid was very different when I was a child or in young age. Although, I am still young heheh but I am talking about 15-25 age. Partying at home with family then visiting or cousins/relatives gatherings and then later with friends. Its always busy busy busy at that time. But life keeps on changing and time keeps on running. Things are changed now. I used to spend most of the day sleeping lol but this time, I am trying to change the routine of spending Eid day.

So back to the topic, I would like to share some of my past experience of celebrating Eid far from home means when me and my parents were in Egypt for four years 2007-2011. There was not much to do. I came to know that there is a big difference of culture and traditions even both of the countries are Muslim Countries. We feel comfortable with the ones whom we freely talk and can have fun.

I think that I was lucky to have my parents with me in Egypt because when I think about those who are all alone far away from home and there are occasions like Eid, then it would be the most difficult situation to handle or spend time. Even if you are free to go for outings and do whatever you want to do but the time with loved ones always matters and is the best time which cannot be replaced. This is in my opinion and people may have different views on this matter.

I would like to share some of my pictures from my past experience of celebrating Eid with my parents. We used to have Eid prayers then we celebrate EId at home while doing some silly and crazy things, my brothers used to call us to wish the day and later I order some Indian food which we together enjoy and capture those moments.

I always try to engage myself and act like everything is alright but the truth is I always try to hide the feelings of being far away from Pakistan and act funny, trying to make my parents and myself laugh. Parents do know each and everything about their children so same here, my parents do understand my feelings and that is why always try to fulfill or ask me to plan for an outing.

As you can see in the pictures, me and my father acting like drunks lol this is due to over watching of Bollywood movies. We do best to celebrate and enjoy EID together. Later, next day we hired a car and went to Alexandria for the whole day outing which I will be sharing soon in my upcoming posts.

This is how we celebrated Eid in Egypt but I still say it is not easy for those who are doing jobs abroad for the family and spending their lovely occasions all alone, but that is what they are sacrificing for the family. I wish you all HAPPY EID!!!!

All above pictures are taken through KODAK EASYSHARE C433 ZOOM DIGITAL CAMERA and photo collages are generated through canva.

Being abroad alone is never easy and I think it becomes harder during the holidays. You were indeed lucky. Thanks for sharing your story, at last I've learnt something about Eid.

Ooops, and happy Eid for tomorrow.

Yes, I can just feel the pain they carry on this special day all alone, however, they can talk to them or even see each other through video call but still this is not enough to get happy on this special occasion. But they don't have other option because they are living far from them just for the sake of their families. God Bless them all!!!
wow good to hear that hehehe Thank you for the wishes!!!! Happy Eid to you too!!!
