Family Iftar Party @ WOK on FIRE

Last weekend, my Elder bro decided to have Iftar together as he was busy at work whole week long and was unable to join us in Iftar. We last met when we dropped off Parents along with kids, my sister in law and my wife to airport as they had a flight to Islamabad. Then he got busy at work and some personal issues but somehow, managed on weekend to spend time together and have Iftari together.

We were having a task pending and that was taking home stove to my in laws to get it repaired. So, he came in his car with his family and planned that we will drop the stove to my in laws and then will have dinner nearby. Choosing the right restaurant is a very difficult job, no one is ready to take the responsibility of choosing some new restaurant as it is risky if the food is not upto the mark. He came home just half an hour before the Iftar time, my other bro was not at home so we waited for him. Meanwhile, we broke fast with a date and some pakoras, not enough because we will be having dinner later. After an hour or so, we went to my in laws place to drop off the stove.

On our way, we were discussing on which restaurant to pick for the dinner. I told him that there is a street nearby my in laws, there are many restaurants and we will dine in which we find suitable. Majority of us were into Chinese so, it was for sure that we will sit in a Chinese restaurant. After getting rid of the stove, we started the search for Chinese Restaurant.

We investigated the whole street and finally found this restaurant “Wok on Fire”. The name looks familiar to my bro as we saw its food cart at some other place having a long que of people, waiting to buy their Chinese food. It was the time for us to taste it and have enjoyable food together. There was a family hall inside the restaurant but it was all dirty so my bro was not comfortable to sit there. We thought of going to other restaurant but then I suggested we should sit outside. It worked out well and we get settled there.

We ordered three different Chowmein along with Kung pao chicken with rice and couple of chicken rolls. All of us were hungry because we didn’t had enough at the time of Iftar. We didn’t know that our patience level will be tested here. It took them 45 minutes to prepare the food. After a long wait, finally, the food get served.
Chowmein was a bit different from others and its taste was awesome. I really liked it. All of the three flavors were amazing. Noodles were properly cooked and the sauces played a major role in creating that different taste. We were just thinking when we were waiting that what if it doesn’t taste good, who will be the person to blame. Blame game was there to begin but the taste completely changed our moods. It was nice. However, Kung Pao Chicken with rice is the wrong choice because we thought of it to be a gravy dish. I am not sure what they tried to make it, there are too many nuts in it and it’s a kind of dry dish. I didn’t liked it.

Kids loved the Chicken roll, it was tasty and yummy. overall, the main course of Chowmein worked out well for all of us and we were happy with the quality, quantity and the taste. We enjoyed it. Later, we finished our meal with a cup of tea which is very much needed after Iftar. We had a good time together, thanks to my Elder bro for this amazing Iftar Party.

Hey bro thanks for sharing your food adventure in the eating out community! I eat chinese food everyday almost because of home cooked food. Chinese food is nice and it's awesome your country has people that cook it. I'm not sure how authentic it is but food is food. Looks like you guys enjoyed it and that's all that matters ;3. If you ever visit Malaysia though let me know you can try some chinese restaurants here hehe
