Famous Afghani Boti of Al Asif Square with Friends

We the people of Karachi loves food and this is one of the trending business in Karachi which never fails. No matter how life is going, people never leave eating outside, especially on weekends, restaurants and food streets are so crowded. It feels like they are having free meals. During Ramadan, at the time of Iftari and Sehri, it is very hard to find space in restaurants. So, my friends decided to hit one of the restaurants later on in order to find some peace in dinner time.

Al Asif Square is a famous place for Afghani Boti, it is the specialty of Pathans and they prepare these botis with perfection at this place only. I didn’t find any similar type of taste anywhere else. Last time, I went there was in 2006 with my brother and his friends. After a long time, I decided to join my couple of friends who planned to have dinner at Al Asif Square as they were craving for these Botis.

There are number of restaurants at Al Asif Square and it becomes hard to select one of them. I took online bike to reach there and my friends were already waiting for me at Sardar Restaurant. It is a nice place for friends to hang out and have some relaxing dinner. It was very well decorated with lights and seating was very much relaxing and comfortable.

We ordered two dozens of seekhs. Seekh is skewer or a metal rod which is used to prepare BBQ kebabs and Boti. Afghani Boti is prepared with lamb fat threaded in between meat. It gives a unique taste and is very famous dish of Pathan community. Other than this, they have special karahi and Handi, which is also prepared in different style, not as eveyr other Karahi or Handi. But we only ordered Afghani Boti with some Seekh Kababs.

Usually, people prefer to have these Boti without bread (Naan) but I like them in fact everything with Naan. MY Friends were not interested in eating with Naan so I ordered one Naan for myself. It was of a good shape and long Naan, not found commonly in Karachi. Basically, these types of Naans are found in Northern part of Pakistan. I really liked it. it doubled the deliciousness of Boti for me. Plus the Raita, it’s a type of savory yogurt sauce or dip and Salad. Everything was up to the mark.

It was so tasty that we ordered one more dozen of Seekhs and one more Naan. The taste with that lamb fat in between the meat was awesome. It’s a good and tasty combination. While we were having dinner, we found this bus and it was funny, as you can see in the picture, its written “Jahaz ka Baccha” in Urdu which means Child of a plane. This is so true that the drivers of these buses drive them like a plane, these buses are used for inter-city traveling. We had a good time together and we enjoyed our dinner very much. This place is highly recommended for meat lovers, if you ever get a chance to visit Karachi, do not forget to hit this place.
