My Maternal Grandmother is calm and composed woman

The elderly people of the family are the ones who carry forward their culture and traditions to the young generation. It is their responsibility to make sure that true values and clear conceptions are moved from one to another so it won’t get disappeared. However, some of them leave this world very early whereas some of them get chance to witness third generation as well.

Grandparents are always so loving and caring, they do each and every thing for their grandchildren whatever they missed for their own kids or even denied and restricted their kids for doing do. This is next level love, I cannot completely feel it but after having my kids, I just get into the first stage of it. There is a lot of path ahead for me to run and live those happy and special moments.

Unfortunately, my parental grandfather passed away too early, didn’t see any of his grandchildren but I have always heard lots of stories of him from my Father. My parental grandmother was a religious person and very strict as per my Father but that strictness was nil with the grandchildren. I remember she never scolded and denied me for anything, even I remember that I used to take bath from her. I don’t want soap on my face as it hurts in my eyes and she knew it, she didn’t wash my face with the soap lol. She left us in 2009.

My maternal Grandfather was one man army, stylish, bold and too many qualities. He used to love us all but in his own style. He passed away in 2011. Now, the only elderly person in my life is my maternal grandmother. She have seen the third generation, kids of her grandchildren. She is now a great grandmother. We call her Nani Ammi.

Since childhood, I have seen her very closely. She is a serious type person who never over react or love extra mile but that doesn’t means she don’t love all of us. She do but didn’t show it by hugging or saying lovely words. It can be seen on her face only. She never interrupted my Mother whenever we were getting scolding or beatings but later always guide us to avoid such things which are denied by our mother, it is for our own good. I used to like her attitude, she don’t speak much but when she speaks, always use limited words to complete sentence.

For last 5-6 years, she is being sick. It’s all because of her age, whenever I meet her, I ask her to eat well because she needs more and more energy to move herself well and on her own. She spent her whole life as a housewife so, she has a vast experience of handling and maintaining things at home along with kids perfectly. She gave some good advices to my wife when we visited her after my wedding. Oohh yes, she gave a surprised entrance at my wedding too, she was not well so I thought she won’t make it to my wedding hall but Thank God, she somehow managed and attended my wedding. That was the classy moment, she was really happy and makes everyone else happy too with her presence.

I often receive her call at work, she misses us all and ask to visit her soon as she lives with one of my uncle. I always try my best to visit her at least once a month but due to busy life, it took couple of months for me to take my family to her. She feels so good watching my kids playing in the living room. I always want my kids to understand and respect their great grandmother as they are lucky to have one and they should feel proud of it, I feel proud of her. She is really calm and composed woman. In her sickness and illness, she didn’t show her pain to everyone but absorb it and smile instead. This is the great thing which not everyone can do, not even we youngsters. My next visit would be on Eid and will make sure to make her smile more and more.
