Weekend Hangout: From Treat Debates to Beach Plans

Today, I'm going to share about my late-night hangout with friends last Saturday. As usual, I got a call from a friend, who picked me up from our community place around midnight. Then we went to a spot called Jauhar Mor and sat at Quetta Labaik Hotel. Soon, two more friends joined us.

We started our usual chit-chat with office talk, which then shifted to discussing whose turn it was to host the next treat. Eventually, the conversation turned to me, and they kept asking when I’d give a treat to celebrate my appraisal/increment. I tried to dodge it, but the topic kept coming back up.

So, I changed the subject to something more interesting, a group outing plan. We had a playful argument over it. I suggested we all arrange a picnic with our families at the beach. Since I had a great experience at Manora, I proposed we rent a HiAce early in the morning, go to Manora, spend some time there, have lunch, and then return. But then the debate shifted to how long we’d actually stay at the beach. I said five hours, one friend said three, and another insisted on two hours max. It was hilarious how everyone had their own idea of the perfect outing.

By then, it was 3 AM, and we were all hungry. So, we ordered chicken cheese parathas, potato cheese parathas, and I got a simple potato paratha. Meanwhile, the discussion about the outing continued, eventually leading to the idea of renting a beach hut. But that plan fizzled out as we realized a hut rental would be too expensive split among just four or five people.

I then presented Plan B to keep the conversation going. My idea was for us to take a road trip on bikes to Ormara Beach, which is halfway between Karachi and Gwadar and is known for its clean, beautiful beach. But this plan also got canceled because one friend wasn’t up for such a long bike trip.

Next, we moved on to Plan C. This was a simpler idea: an early-morning bike trip to a nearby beach, without families, just for a short stay. We’d go at sunrise, spend one or two hours there, and then head back. This plan seemed to make sense to everyone, and no one raised any objections. So, we all agreed on it and decided to go next week. Let’s see who actually remembers the plan by then haha!

By 4 AM, we all headed home. It was a fun Saturday night, and I actually liked the paratha, though the others didn’t enjoy it much. Now we’ll see if Plan C actually happens next week. Meanwhile, I’ve given my increment treat today, which I'll share with you all in a post tomorrow!
