El pasado martes, siendo el último día de carnaval tuvimos una gran celebración en familia, llena de nostalgia y sentimiento, aunque también de felicidad y orgullo hacia mi madrina Rosmila, pues desde la inauguración de su bodegón en diciembre le ha ido genial.

La situación es, que pronto sería el cumpleaños de mi amado primo Carlos Luis, quien falleció hace un año y este mes es muy sentimental para mi familia, pero justo coincidió con carnaval y este gran evento que mi madrina tenía planificado en la licorería "El gran bacanal", así que tocó celebrar como solo mi primo lo hubiese hecho.

Last Tuesday, being the last day of the carnival, we had a big family celebration, full of nostalgia and feelings, but also of happiness and pride towards my godmother Rosmila, because since the inauguration of her bodegón in December she has been doing great.

The situation is that it would soon be the birthday of my beloved cousin Carlos Luis, who passed away a year ago and this month is very sentimental for my family, but just coincided with carnival and this great event that my godmother had planned in the liquor store "The big bacchanal", so it was time to celebrate as only my cousin would have done.

Ya ha pasado un año desde que mi primo Carlos Luis, hermano de Rosmila, falleció. Siendo un alma joven, carismático como nadie y muy extrovertido.

Esta noticia nos sorprendió a todos, pero siempre será cierto eso que dicen, hoy estamos, mañana no sabemos. No hace falta decir que ha sido muy difícil para mi familia lidiar con esto, sobre todo para mis tíos, el hecho de que tu hijo ya no estará es muy fuerte.

Rosmila mandó a hacer unos suéter en honor a él, así que todos los usamos con orgullo.

It has been a year since my cousin Carlos Luis, Rosmila's brother, passed away. He was a young soul, charismatic like no other, and very extroverted.

This news came as a surprise to all of us, but it will always be true what they say, today we are, tomorrow we don't know. Needless to say, it has been very difficult for my family to deal with this, especially for my aunt and uncle, the fact that your son will no longer be around is very hard.

Rosmila had some sweaters made in his honor, so we all wear them with pride.

El pueblito de Caicara nos recibió con mucho cariño, llegamos aproximadamente como a la 1:30 PM y ya los camiones se estaban preparando para empezar a bañar a la gente. Eran varios camiones dispuestos a mojar a todo aquel que pasara, la gente estaba ansiosa esperando esto, porque estaba haciendo muchísimo calor.

The town of Caicara received us with much affection, we arrived at approximately 1:30 PM and the trucks were already preparing to start bathing the people. There were several trucks ready to wet everyone who passed by, people were anxiously waiting for this because it was getting very hot.

Fue algo curioso para mí descubrir la palabra y la celebración de un "Bacanal", es algo impresionante y grotesco, no crean que lo nuestro fue así, para nada jajaja😂.

Jugamos carnaval hasta la noche, hubo mucha agua, el calipso y la soca sonando desde que llegamos a todo dar, las personas compraban su licor como si no hubiera un mañana, saltamos, reímos, nos mojamos, lanzamos caramelos y termos de recuerdo, hubo baño de espuma, también un grupo cantó las canciones más reconocidas y aclamadas de calipso, dejando a oriente por todo lo alto.

We played carnival until the night, there was a lot of water, calypso, and soca playing since we arrived, and people were buying their liquor as if there was no tomorrow, we jumped, we laughed, we got wet, we threw candies and souvenir thermoses, there was foam bath, also a group sang the most recognized and acclaimed calypso songs, leaving east in style.

También hubo comida deliciosa, como tequeños, mini hamburguesas, perros calientes, pastelitos y demás.

Conocimos a más primos que no teníamos idea si quiera de que éramos primos, pero solo bastaba con intercambiar dos palabras y ya estábamos como si nos conociéramos de toda la vida.

There was also delicious food, such as tequeños, mini hamburgers, hot dogs, cupcakes and more.

We met more cousins that we had no idea we were cousins, but all we had to do was exchange two words and it was as if we had known each other all our lives.

Para la noche había demasiada gente rodeando el local, fue increíble subir y ver la cantidad de gente que había, arropados por un hermoso atardecer.

Definitivamente el cielo estaba de fiesta también.

For the night there were too many people surrounding the place, it was incredible to go up and see the amount of people there, surrounded by a beautiful sunset.

The sky was definitely having a party too.

Debo decir que fue muy gratificante el saber que le está yendo muy bien a mi prima Rosmila, la admiro muchísimo como mujer y sé que aunque no fue fácil el saber que nuestro primo hubiese estado aquí este día, sin embargo sé muy bien que a él no le hubiese gustado vernos tristes y acabados este día, en su mes.
