Why are cloth napkins, head covers and fabrics attached to the wish tree?

(Edited)

In our culture, rags are tied to the wish tree, which is said to be from Shamanism, and wishes are made.

The arrival of this tradition in Anatolia goes back to Central Asia. In the past, people made a habit of attaching their valuables representing their wishes to these trees when they were going on a journey or when they wanted their dowry to come true, and they kept this tradition alive for generations.

Although the meaning of rag is defined as a worthless piece of cloth, people usually attach handkerchiefs they value and pieces of cloth they value, such as head coverings, to these trees.

So why wish trees?

Every picture in this article is original and belongs to me. During my visit to my sister, I took a photo of the plants in her house and the beautiful wishing tree in her garden.

Trees are a commodity element that gives peace and psychological relief to people in every culture and every age for centuries.
And we also know that trees are living things and that everything made of wood makes people feel warm, peaceful and full of confidence.
