(Edited)

Hello everyone, I hope everything is going well in your life. Welcome to my Battle Mage Secrets post. In this post, I will talk about the Fog of War Ruleset. I hope it will be useful for you.

Fog of War Ruleset

In battles with the Fog of War Ruleset, Monsters lose the Sneak, Snipe and Opportunity abilities, meaning Monsters without the Scattershot Ability will target the Monster in the first position or with the Taunt Ability. Ranged and Magic Attack Monsters with the Scattershot Ability hit a random enemy target. Therefore, Monsters with Scattershot Ability can attack all positions in the opposing team, and you can include Scattershot Ability in your strategy to especially damage the back line of the opposing team, but do not ignore that they attack randomly because they can attack any monster in the back line, including the monster in the first position. They can do a great job in some battles and disrupt the entire strategy of the opponents. Especially those who have both Scattershot Ability and Blast Ability, like Chaos Dragon.

In addition, in battles with the Fog of War Ruleset, although Ranged and Magic Attack Monsters lose their Sneak, Snipe and Opportunity abilities, they can attack when they are in the back line, but Melee Attack Monsters that do not have the Reach Ability cannot attack (unless the battle has an extra ruleset like Melee Mayhem that allows them to attack) while in the back line, so it is not advantageous to use more than one or two melee attack monsters in this ruleset. Meanwhile, Melee attack Units with the Reach ability may attack from the second position on the team.

As a result, in battles with the Fog of War Ruleset, I generally prefer Melee Attack Monsters in the first position and Magic Attack Monsters and Ranged Attack Monsters in the back line, but I can make some changes in my strategy depending on the other rulesets of the battle and my opponent. Additionally, I include Monsters with Scattershot Ability in my strategy whenever I have the opportunity. I attach great importance to adding Chaos Dragon to my team, especially since it helps me a lot in disrupting my opponents' strategies.

Let's examine the Fog of War Ruleset in a battle.

Battle Ruleset

  • Keep Your Distance: Monsters with Melee attack may not be used in battles.
  • Fog of War: Monsters lose the Sneak, Snipe and Opportunity abilities.
  • Are You Not Entertained?: One additional Gladiator card may be used in battles.

MY STRATEGY & LINE UP

According to the ruleset of the battle, Monsters with Melee attacks will not be used in this battle, Monsters will lose the Sneak, Snipe and Opportunity abilities, and one additional Gladiator card may be used in Battles.

Before starting the battle, when I reviewed the recent 5 battles of the opposing player, I saw that the opposing player had very powerful cards, but it was difficult to predict what kind of strategy the opposing player would form a team with in this battle.

First of all, I will choose a dragon summoner so that I can use Chaos Dragon in this battle. And considering the rulesets of the battle, I will choose Quix the Devious as the summoner because thanks to Quix the Devious, the speed of all enemy monsters will be reduced by 1 and the ranged attack of all enemy ranged attack monsters will be reduced by 1.

In this battle, I will choose magic attack monsters with high attack power and health, and I will also put Monsters with Void Ability in the first two positions. I can say that I will put Monsters with Void Ability in the first two positions, thinking that the opponent player may prefer magic attack monsters. I will also include the Tank Heal Ability in my strategy to make it difficult to destroy the first position Monster in my team. I would like to say that I will add monsters to my lineup according to their health and abilities, and since I think the Tank Heal Ability will benefit my team until the end of the battle, I will put it in the last position.

The continuation of the strategy and my team's lineup is as follows;

LINE UP

Summoner : QUIX THE DEVIOUS

Quix the Devious a Dragon Summoner that reduces the speed of all enemy monsters by 1 and reduces the ranged attack of all enemy ranged attack monsters by 1. In order to use my Chaos Dragon card, I needed to use the Dragon summoner, and I chose Quix the Devious as the summoner because I believed that reducing the speed of all enemy monsters by 1 and reducing the ranged attack of all enemy ranged attack monsters by 1 would benefit my team in battle.

Position 1: BAAKJIRA

Baakjira is a Water Monster that has no attack power and has Void Ability, Slow Ability and Strengthen Ability at level 2. Even though Baakjira does not have attack power, I can say that I added him to my team because of its abilities. And even though it only cost 6 mana, it had 12 health and I put it in the first position.

  • Void Ability : Reduced damage from Magic attacks by 50%.
  • Slow Ability : Reduces the Speed of all enemy Units by 1.
  • Strengthen Ability : All friendly Units have their Health increased by 1.

Position 2 : DJINN OSHANNUS

Djinn Oshannus is a Water Monster that can attack the target with Magic Attacks and has Void Ability and Phase Ability at level 2. Djinn Oshannus is a monster that can defend powerfully against magic attack monsters because it has Void Ability and Phase Ability, and since it has 5 speed, other monsters can miss it that's why I put it in the second position.

  • Void Ability : Reduced damage from Magic attacks by 50%.
  • Phase Ability : Magic attacks can miss this Unit (using the same hit/miss calculation as Melee and Ranged attacks).

Position 3 : RUNEMANCER KYE

Runemancer Kye is a Water Monster that can attack the target with Magic Attacks and has Flying Ability and Life Leech Ability from level 1. The most important reasons why I did not add Runemancer Kye to my team are that it has 3 magic attacks, Life Leech Ability and 8 health. In addition to attacking the target powerfully, Runemancer Kye also increases its health each time it damages an enemy Monster's health by half the damage dealt. Since it has high health and 5 armor, I put it in third position. Even if the monsters in the first two positions were destroyed, it would not be easy to destroy Runemancer Kye.

  • Flying Ability : Has a 25% bonus chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks from Units who do not have the Flying ability.
  • Life Leech Ability : Unit's health increases each time it damages an enemy Unit's health by half the damage dealt.

Position 4 : NERISSA TRIDAWN

Nerissa Tridawn is a Water Monster without any abilities that can attack the target with Magic Attacks. Even though it doesn't have any abilities, I added it to my team because it has 3 magic attacks and 9 health. And I put Nerissa Tridawn in the fourth position.

Position 5: CHAOS DRAGON

Chaos Dragon is a Dragon that can attack the target with Magic Attacks and has Flying Ability, Scattershot Ability and Blast Ability at level 2. Chaos Dragon is a dragon that can be very effective in battles, especially since it has the Scattershot Ability and Blast Ability and can attack the target with 3 magic attacks, and these were the most important reasons why I added it to my team in this battle. I love that Chaos Dragon can deal damage to multiple or even 3 enemies in one hit, and I believed it could be very effective in this battle. I also didn't want Chaos Dragon to be a target for enemies until the end of the battle, so I put it in the fifth position.

  • Flying Ability : Has a 25% bonus chance of evading Melee or Ranged attacks from Units who do not have the Flying ability.
  • Scattershot Ability : Ranged and Magic attacks hit a random enemy target.
  • Blast Ability : Does half damage (rounded up) to Units adjacent to the target Unit.

Position 6: Merdaali Guardian

Merdaali Guardian is a Water Monster that has no attack power and has Tank Heal Ability from level 1. I added Merdaali Guardian to my team because I believe that the Tank Heal Ability will be of great benefit to my team in such a battle. And I put Merdaali Guardian in the last position so that it could survive until the end of the battle.

  • Tank Heal Ability : Restores a third of max health to the Unit in the first position each round.

BATTLE COMMENTS

You can watch the entire battle from the video or from the Battle Link

Round 1

In the first round, all monsters hit their targets, the Oppress Ability caused Baakjira to take more damage, so I could predict that it would be destroyed early in the following rounds. It was wise for the opposing player to add the Oppress Ability to their lineup and give attack power to monsters that do not have attack power with the Weapons Training Ability, which caused Baakjira to take more damage. Additionally, Chaos Dragon's hit on Venari Wavesmith was admirable because it caused both Venari Wavesmith and adjacent monsters to take damage.

Round 2

In the second round, Baakjira was destroyed, obviously it was obvious in the previous round that this would happen and Djinn Oshannus took first position. Even though the opponent team's attacks seemed more effective, Chaos Dragon hitting the monsters in the opponent team's backline would give my team an advantage in the following rounds.

Round 3

Although the enemies' attacks were effective at the beginning of the third round, Chaos Dragon's brutal attack almost changed the course of the battle.

Chaos Dragon hit Venari Wavesmith, destroying both it and Swamp Spitter, and allowing Djinn Oshannus to take damage. This is exactly why I attach great importance to adding Chaos Dragon to my team in such battles.

Round 4

In the fourth round, Runemancer Kye destroyed Djinn Oshannus and there were only 3 monsters left in the opposing team and their health was low, so the winner of the battle was now clear. Also, the fact that they missed Djinn Oshannus on my team made their job even more difficult.

Round 5

At the beginning of the fifth round, Djinn Oshannus destroyed Noa the Just, while Chaos Dragon destroyed Merdaali Guardian, and the opponent team was left with only Berix Snakeye, who cannot attack in the first position.

Round 6

And in the sixth round, Berix Snakeye was also destroyed and my team managed to win this tough fight.

The battle lasted 6 rounds and at the end of the battle, while all the monsters on the opposing team were destroyed, 5 monsters on my team were still alive, which shows that my strategy worked very well in this battle. In fact, the opposing player's strategy was also good, but especially Djinn Oshannus' powerful defense against the enemies' attacks, having a Monster with Tank Heal Ability in my team, and Chaos Dragon's effective attacks enabled me to win this battle easily. That's why I prefer such strategies, especially in battles with the Fog of War Ruleset, and the mana cap of the battle being 60 was a great advantage for me. I recommend you to watch this very interesting and challenging battle from Battle Link. I hope you will like it.
