There are over 6,000 genres of music and each has its own fans. One of the popular music genres is classical music. Today I will talk about Classical Music.

I like to listen to classical music because listening to classical music relaxes me tremendously.

What is Classical Music?

Classical music is a genre of music originating from Western Europe, dating back to the Ancient Greek period. And it is a music genre that characterized itself even more in the Middle Ages and Renaissance times and formed our perception of classical music today.

The history of classical music generally consists of works produced between the 15th and 18th centuries. This genre of music was completely separated from folk music in general and appealed to elite groups. It was performed in the palace from the time it emerged until the romantic period, and from the romantic period, classical music began to reach the public, leaving the palace dominance. The most distinctive features of classical music are that it is polyphonic (multi-voiced) and polyrhythmic (multi-rhythmic).

Classical Music Periods

It is possible to examine the classical music periods after the Middle Ages under five main periods.

Renaissance Period (1450–1600)

Renaissance is a French word meaning rebirth. In the Renaissance period, with the invention of the printing press, it was possible to reproduce musical notes and compositions, so they became more widespread. There was also a revival of art and literature under the influence of classical models during the Renaissance period.

The prominent musicians of the period are Carlo Gesualdo, Guillaume Dufay, Johannes Ockeghem and Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina.

Baroque Period (1600–1750)

A more ornate expression is seen in the Baroque Period. The prominent musicians and composers of the period are Henry Purcell, George Frideric Handel, Georg Philipp Telemann, Johann Sebastian Bach, Antonio Vivaldi and Arcangelo Corelli.

Classical Period (1750–1820)

One of the biggest factors in the closing of the Baroque period is the invention of the piano. Classical music peaks with the piano. Moving classical music compositions develop further with the piano. In addition, the spread of the symphony in this period made music more distinguished. Famous composers of the period are Joseph Haydn, Christoph Willibald Gluck, Muzio Clementi and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Romantic Period

In this period, which lasted from 1820 to 1900, music came out of the palace and the aristocracy and met with the public. Musical patterns in the romantic period are freer and more understandable. The prominent musicians and composers of the period are Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Schubert, Carl Maria von Weber and Gioacchino Rossini, Frederic Chopin, Hectkr Berlioz, Franz Liszt, Aleksandr Borodin, Antonin Drovak, Edvard Grieg.

Modern Period

The Modern Period covers the period from the beginning of the 20th century to the present.

I'm not a music expert but I agree that classical music is calming. I don't have to habit of listening to it though. I should probably change that.

Beethoven, Bach, Vivaldi and Mozart (from left to right in the image)😎. Beethoven, my favourite😎. Have you ever seen the film Copying Beethoven? My postgrad teachers proposed a 12 minutes sample, but I couldn't e satisfied with a 12 minutes sample only and I searched for the complete film🐣. And I loved it😍.

Thanks for the giveaways. Please count me in.

Good choices on the music and selections that most of us have probably heard before. I really like the Disney Fantasia movies (original and 2000) as gateways into classical music.

Good luck, all.

Congratulations @tin.aung.soe! Count me in for another round, please! Thank you so very much!

I had no idea that there were so many different music genres, or even classical music genres! Many consider classical music to be the highest expression of music. If I use plants as the barometer, classical music is also the most life-promoting, as they grow amazingly well with it, while other genres make them die. That suggests that the basic frequencies are much more harmonious in classical music, and that as a gente, It's the most beneficial for life. 😁🙏💚✨🤙

I admit that I am not a faithful listener of classical music, it is not because I consider it bad, it is more for reasons of personal taste. In my case I usually listen to Rock bands but classical music is really incredible.
