Tyla Laura Seethal, known as Tyla, is a South African singer and songwriter. Born and raised in Johannesburg, Tyla signed with Epic Records in 2021 following the domestic success of her 2019 debut single "Getting Late" featuring Kooldrink.

Born on January 30, 2002, Tyla, at the age of 22, managed to reach a level of success in a very short time that most musicians can only dream of. Tyla, who gained worldwide fame with her single "Water" released in 2023, reached the top ten in sixteen countries, including the United Kingdom and the United States.

"Water" was the first song by a South African soloist to top the US Billboard Hot 100 in 55 years, while Tyla, who collaborated with Travis Scott and Summer Walker, was awarded the inaugural Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance in 2024. The critically acclaimed "Water" was released as the lead single from her self-titled debut album on July 28, 2023 via Fax and Epic Records. And Tyla's self-titled debut studio album was released on March 22, 2024 via Fax and Epic Records, , and includes "Water". Additionally, Tyla has earned nominated for a BRIT Award, a Soul Train Music Award, a MOBO Award, and two South African Music Awards.

Tyla - Getting Late

It actually wasn't that easy for Tyla to get to these days, she and her team shot the "Getting Late" video without any backing or budget, and it took almost a year and they released it in early 2021. Following the domestic success of "Getting Late", she signed with Epic Records in 2021.

Tyla gained to worldwide fame after "Water" was released as the lead single from her self-titled debut album via Fax and Epic Records on July 28, 2023.

Tyla's self-titled debut studio album was released on March 22, 2024, and the album received so much acclaim that Tyla proved that her success was not an accident.
