The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars is the fifth studio album by English musician David Bowie. The album was released in the United Kingdom on 16 June 1972 by RCA Records. The album's title is often shortened to Ziggy Stardust. It was produced by Ken Scott and David Bowie. It was recorded between November 1971 and February 1972. The album contains 11 tracks. "It Ain't Easy" was written by Ron Davies, all other tracks were written by David Bowie.

Ziggy Stardust is considered one of David Bowie's best albums and has appeared on numerous professional lists of the best albums of all time. Additionally, it was praised by most critics. Ziggy Stardust has been reissued several times, as well as a 40th anniversary remastered in 2012. Additionally, in 2017, Ziggy Stardust was selected for preservation in the National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress for being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".
