Why Do I Love the Retaliate Ability? And Focus Chests | Splinterlands

(Edited)

When Monsters with the Retaliate Ability are hit with a Melee attack, they have a 50% chance of immediately attacking their attacker. That's why I especially like to use them against Melee Attack Monsters, and they can counter their brutal attacks more brutally.

There are 26 cards (31 cards if we count the Alpha and Beta ones separately) with the Retaliate Ability in the Splinterlands, and I can say that my favorites are the ones that have both the Enrage Ability and the Retaliate Ability, because their attacks are much more brutal. There are 8 cards that have both the Enrage Ability and the Retaliate Ability. Let's see this in a battle.

Battle Ruleset

  • Healed Out: All healing abilities are removed from Monsters and Summoners.
  • Aim True: Attacks always hit their target.
  • Rise of the Commons: Only Common and Rare Monsters may be used in battles.

I especially like to use the Retaliate Ability against the Possibilus the Wise Summoner because Possibilus the Wise is a really powerful summoner and those who prefer it prefer Melee Attack Monsters, so I do not hesitate to add Monsters with the Retaliate Ability to my lineup. Monsters with the Retaliate Ability can respond to their brutal attacks more brutally.

While I put Drybone Barbarian with Enrage Ability and Retaliate Ability in the first position, I put Dumacke Orc with Retaliate Ability and Shield Ability in the last position. I believed that both of them would be very effective in this battle.

They really did a great job in this battle and managed to break the opponent team's power superiority in the first two rounds. Even though Drybone Barbarian was destroyed in the second round, he managed to destroy almost the most effective monsters of the opponent team. So I can say that my favorite monster in this type of battle is Drybone Barbarian. I recommend you to watch this interesting and quite challenging battle from the Battle Link and you can see how effective the Retaliate Ability is in battles.

Also today, I managed to upgrade both my Drybone Barbarian card and my Dumacke Orc card to level 8.

I hope I can level them both up to level 10 soon. By the way, when I upgrade them to level 9, Drybone Barbarian will have the Knock Out Ability, and Dumacke Orc will have the Thorns Ability. They are both very powerful abilities, so I think they will be more effective in battles. I can say that they will be very useful to me, especially in the diamond league and diamond league tournaments.

Brief descriptions of the abilities I mentioned above;

  • Retaliate Ability : When hit with a Melee attack, Units with Retaliate have a 50% chance of immediately attacking their attacker.
  • Enrage Ability : This unit has 50% bonus Melee attack and Speed when not at full health.
  • Shield Ability : Reduces damage from Melee and Ranged attacks by 50%.
  • Knock Out Ability : Does double damage when attacking an enemy that is stunned.
  • Thorns Ability : When hit with a Melee attack, does 2 Melee damage back to the attacker.
