Battle Mage Secrets - Even Stevens

Hi guys,

Welcome to my blog. This is an entry to the splinterlands battle mage weekly contest. This week the rule set is even Stevens.

Last season ended with me playing few games again. I think I had just about 3 chests due to a few challenges. Well am back to silver after getting dropped to bronze after the season ended. And you know with silver I had two rulesets.

So for this contest the even Stevens Ruleset means you can only use monsters with even mana to play the battle. The other Ruleset was magic reflect ability. The magic reflect ability was a hindrance to how I wanted the game to pan out. This was the only time in the game I wished I was playing in bronze or something lol.

At least the other Ruleset wouldn’t have messsed up how I would have lined up for this battle.

For this one I was once again denied the earth element. For me, even with this second Ruleset disadvantage I would have still used the magic cards in the earth element.

Since I didn’t have that I decided to go in for the life cards. Another problem with this was that the game mana was as low as 20; things didn’t go in my favour.

So I went in for the Franz Ruffmane summoner. A 6 mana summoner which gives your cards +1 shield and a chance to use one additional gladius card in battle. I mostly go in for captain Katie each time I select this summoner but this time round I didn’t choose Katie because of the magic reflect. Katie is a good gladius card but with its low health it’ll die before it can get the chance to bloodlust in this case.

So I went in for xenith monk as my first card. This was because it has the healing ability and with 6 speed I was sure it will make a few hits.

The second card was pelacor arbalest, a 6 mana card with just 3 health. The only reason why I went for it was because of its ability o attack twice in each round.

The last card on my list was ajax lightfoot; this is the only card that I have a problem with spl for its name. This card is called lightfoot but with the right conditions it’ll cost heavy damage in battle. Looks at how great its level one stats are.

Well, Ajax lightfoot has 2 range attack and just 4 health. In my opinion it compensates for that with 6 speed.

Let’s rumble.

My opponent went in for a lot of cards but they weren’t that strong. Rather than going in for many string cards he made sure to get a healer and then a very good first position card into his team.

It started with lightfoot landing the first attack but with his first card’s shield it was impossible to get to his health. Theo opponent’s venari crystalsmith attacked next and it was on my xenith monk. It succeeded in clearing its shield; something I didn’t want to happen but it did. It paved way for my opponent to get to it real easy.

My pelacor arbalest was able to do its neat work of cleansing my opponent off of its shield but with an armor smith my opponents shield was restored and with ease my first card was vanquished in round one.

The arbalest came in at first position and then became useless. I knew going in for 2 range cards was going to be a problem if my first card was killed. With arbalest being in first position it was a matter of time before it got killed.

With my next range card going into first position after the death of arbalest I knew it was over for me. Lightfoot was killed in no time and that was how I lost the game.

I didn’t even get the chance to kill any of my opponents cards lol.
