Financial freedom? Is there an end to this

I want to have a lot of money when I grow up. I want to have many cars. I want to travel the whole world. I want to grow up real quick. Am sure a lot of us said this when we were growing up. Now some of us have seen the reality of life and we wish we were kids all our life.

Sometimes I wish I could be taken care of my parents my whole life. Being responsible is a hard task and it takes a strong and willing person to do that. As we grow, we realise that life can never be the same. Life can never be as easy as it was when we were still in primary school or even JHS.

Now the question here is, can we be free of this burden. When does the suffering ever end? We chase and chase until we die and leave it all behind.

The more we gain the more our expenses rise. I can quite remember when I had barely nothing. I was ok with just a little cause it could see me through the whole day.

Now I won’t say I have enough but it’s better than before and now I want more and more. I want it all and this has raise some questions as to when the struggle ends.

You see the world richest man trying and trying to have more money and you think oh If I had a quarter of his money I wouldn’t even work anymore.

But I tell you, if you have his money you probably wouldn’t be okay with such a huge amount. They didn’t sit around doing nothing and just got the money.

They worked hard and their determination for more has given them more and more. You might think it’s a lie but they strive for more because they might not be satisfied with all that they have.

Their expenses keep rising as soon as they keep making more money. Their taste changes to more expensive tastes and all this contributes to the spending which never ends.

Can we blame us, we have been built to love material things. We love them and we are moved by them. Even the thought of living a rich life gives us goose bumps.

All this boils down to being content with what you have. If you are content with what you have then you can be free.

But you can be content and still not be satisfied with where you are. That doesn’t mean you are not content. I believe being content is a state of mind and we can all achieve it by avoiding comparison.

The more you have, the more you need because life can be as complicated as you wish.

It's human nature to always want more, to improve, and get better. It's by God's design.

We can accept our human experience and the suffering that comes with it, or go live as monks in Thailand!

Your words paint a bitter picture of the never-ending cycle of wants and needs that society has created for itself. It's true that the more we attain, the more our desires grow and the cycle perpetuates. The pursuit of wealth and material possessions is a common goal for many, but it can become a trap where we constantly chase after something without ever truly being satisfied.

As the saying goes, "The grass is always greener on the other side," and it's all too easy to believe that someone else's life is better than ours. But when we look at the reality of it, everyone has their own struggles and challenges to face, regardless of their wealth or status. By focusing on what we have, rather than what we don't, we can learn to appreciate and be grateful for what we have in our lives.

Thanks for sharing such an interesting topic buddy

As humans we will always want more. Until you are there, you won’t even understand why. I just started my NSS and I have noticed that they money they give at once isn’t enough but ho can you explain this to someone who is at an NSS personnel or who have never done it before.

Life is just the way it is. By the way I also need a lot of money when I grow up😄

With age comes responsibility, you have to stand up and face them, rather than trying to ignore them.
