Wanting It All To Oneself

Hi guys,
The week has finally come to an end. It feels like yesterday was Monday. This week has gone by very fast and as always I am glad to see the weekend. Today we have another hl prompt to write. This time round we are writing about something a bit different from the regular.
Most of us if not all of us have been in contact or have been friends with people who don’t want us to benefit from them. We have been in contact or friends with people who will just take and take but never give us anything when we need their help.
Well, some of us have become used to people like this so when we do have problems we tend not to seek assistance from anyone, we try to solve the problem by ourselves cause we think even if we open up we won’t get the support when the support we need is financial.
I’ve had my share of this scenario. I think for every stage in my life I’ve come in contact with people who will always tend to take from me but never want to give me something. Sometimes these people think you have it all just because you don’t ask anything from them.

Whenever I hear the word greedy, then I seem to remember this friend of mine. We have been friends since shs and we are still friends up till now. A friend who I was always available for but he was never available when I need him. Or should I say because of his nature I never seek his help?
This friend of mine is something who is always looking for monetary help. Each time it’s either he needs money to buy this, his fuel has short or he’s owing someone he needs to pay up fast and needs my help. In fact, at the time it looked like he knew whenever I had money. Cause each time money dropped into my mobile money wallet then out of nowhere I will see his call seeking help with something.
What can I say, I tried to help him as much as I could. There were instances when I had to give him my last money for the sake of friendship or should I say I had trust that he was not lying to me. I tried to be available each time he requested financial aid. But I realised I was being used by this friend when a call came in from him one day.
We were on break so I was at home. I was sleeping when a call came in from him around 2:00 am. The call woke me up immediately but then I hesitated. I didn’t know who would call me at that time. I checked and it was his line. I was feeling sleepy so I decided not to pick.

As I was about to fall back to sleep I thought oh let me not refuse to pick up his call cause there might be something happening to him and he will need my help eagerly. I tried to force myself but something in me said he was just going to give me a panic call and lie to me. So I decided not to pick.
The following morning I texted him and asked what the issue was. This guy said he was stranded somewhere and needed my financial aid. Then I knew he was lying to me. He was only trying to use me to get some urgent cash.
After so many incidents with this friend of mine I think it’s better I also tell him I don’t have money each time he asks. Apart turn the money part we are very cool. We talk a lot and we do play a lot too but when it comes to me aiding him financially I simply tell him I don’t have.
I don’t think there is a need to quarrel with someone who is not ready to spend on you as you do. The best option is to act like them. As they always say, dey for who dey for you.

Sometimes its not good to be good to other people because they are taking advantage of our good actions to them..
Yep and the best is to try and minimise the help cause you won’t feel good doing good for them.
it often happens even from our own friends and they use us to be their atm and they don't want to spend money on us, success for the content
That’s one thing I usually don’t understand really. I don’t even ask often. I only ask when I can’t take it anyone which i rarely do. If you want to be given you should learn how to give too you know.

This is something I’m slowly learning too. I have so many friends that just take but never offer anything. And yes, they always ask for the money when I have. But now I just keep saying no and it’s been quite a relief

You can try it but it’s very difficult to be refuse to give at first when you are not like. But slowly you will know how to do it(remember practice makes man better).
We all learn to give people who will give back even though it’s all blessings.
you have such a kind heart, that your friend always asks you for help whenever he has no money and thank God finally you decide not to give him any more money because if we keep giving he will always be like that, it doesn't mean we are stingy but we are too we have to have a principle who should we really help and he will help us too
It’s difficult to refuse him at times. But then I have to try very hard even though he will act like he is in dying need of my help lol.
Yeah well said bro, some people just want to use you, they try to play smart whereas they don't know you're just being yourself, a nice person.
It's better to cut off a friend who can stand for you as you do.
