Shopping On Tiangge-an Day: Found Santol Bagoong in the Market and Tried It For The First Time -As Per Mama's Recommendation!

5:39 am and i'm already out on the road. It's Sunday, and it is also the day that the Malunggay Pandesal sell out really fast. 6 or 6:30 am and they are already sold out. That's how well love the Malunggay Pandesal are here in our town haha. And so, I made a slow walk going there, its just a few steps away from home. I can actually see it outside pur house and seeing that there's no long line if people yet, I uttered a very quiete but loud "YES" in my head. I mean, I am really just happy. If there's no line, it is already a 100 % sure that I'll get the Pandesal I want from them, toasted and yum!

Today's seller is a different person. But its not like i'm close to the other seller of this, its just that, he already knows that we like Toasted Pandesal and he always make sure to give just that. But its not like, this one is bad. In fact, its even better coz he cook his Pandesal much nicer and in the right fire or temperature, something like that. But sadly, I forgot ro take a photo of the Pandesal co I got excited eating it. HAHAHAH. Me bad. ¯⁠\⁠⁠(⁠ツ⁠)⁠⁠/⁠¯

Also, after breakfast, I just did the laundry that I soaked last night and then we headed to the market right after. My plan is to buy Squash to put the leftover fried fish from yesterday

There's a lot of squash but I am looking for a quash with a particular texture. But I just can't find any. Mama on the other hand was already fix on the Taro, haha. She's already choosing a good quality ones out of a bunch on the ground. And then I change my plan later on, that is, to buy cooked vegetable dish. But what I found is not really much of a vegetable but hmmmm, an appetizer? It'a called Santol Bagoong, according to Ka Donnie.

We go back home really excited, I want to try the Santol Bagoong immediately but I want it with rice. Sadly we've no leftover haha

And this is what it looks like -really look like a bagoong. It will be more awesome if its spicy. But knowing Ka Donie and me not seeing any chili seeds in it, it is just the plain and salty one. To be honest I haven't tried Santol Bagoong yet. Like, I knew Santol as a fruit so I really can't just inagine it before.

It doesn't look appetizing at all. Hahaha. I can't tells how it smells too coz I can't smell (⁠⌐⁠■⁠-⁠■⁠). But well, all I know is, it has Santol or Cotton Fruit and a Bagoong. Bagoong is a famous condiments but a dip or a viand too to us. She can eat that with rice, of course I do that too.

Seriously, I can eat rice just with bagoong and alamang coz they are really that good. And so yes, this Santol Bagoong is a combination of both. And they were cooked in coconut milk. You can see so much oil on top of it no? I think thats coz of the Coconut Milk. It was cooked until it becomes coconut oil

And this is how I eat it. The boring meal turns more exciting coz of it. I don't eat much rice these days, but today is an exception! It is really just so good huhu. The only bad thing here is, its salty. There's a hint of tanginess thanks I think to the cotton fruit, but its not much. It'll be awesome if there's more cotton fruit mix in it, surely, its saltiness and sourness will go mix really, really well.

But anyways, I really enjoy today's lunch. And I feel like, I can eat this Santol Bagoong for months coz I didn't eat much of it but I still eat more rice, haha. And yes, there's a lot more left. I'm hiding it to Mommy F coz this is really not good for her. Mommy D wants to try it but she's afraid that Mommy F may find out. And so, she didn't eat some for lunch. But maybe I fan encourage here to have it for dinner. Ehe
