5-Minute Freewrite ~ Medal Of Honor
Anne looked at her husband with tears in her eyes. "Do you have to go?" She asked even when she knew the answer to her question.
"You know I have to but I promise I will come back to you", her husband replied while holding her close. Her husband, David, is a soldier fighting for his country and though it hurts leaving his family to go to war, he knows he is fighting to protect his country as well as his family.
She kissed his forehead and prayed with him as he went on his journey. Days turns to weeks and weeks turn to months, she prayed fervently for her husband to come back home to her. Whenever she receives a letter from him, her worry lessens a bit and she always looks forward to hearing his voice.
Then there came the day he was to return home. He didn't return home nor was she able to communicate with him. She feared for his safety and try to assure herself that he is alright even though her heart hammered for fear that something bad had happened to him. A few weeks later, she was home listening to his favorite song when she heard a knock. She opened the door to reveal her husband with a smile on his face. She swung herself at him and he caught her and held on to her so tightly that they could barely breathe.
A few days after he returned home, David was awarded a medal of honor for his bravery and his sacrifice to his country.

This is an interesting and relatable family tale. Hehe. It's always like that when partners are separated for a period of time. They can't stop thinking of what's going on with their partner while praying for a safe reunion.
This is a tale with happy ending. Hehe. Well Done, Big Sis.
😃😃😃 thank you for reading.
Oh. This short story really captivated my heart. The internal battles that these people (the soldiers) and their families face are real.
