School diaries: the multiplication caterpillars πŸ›

I told you about a new Art project I wanted to work on with my second graders. Since it's my last week at school and my maternity leave begins on Monday, I wanted to leave them with something useful they could have all year long and use it during Maths class. I needed something easy, something that didn't require a lot of materials or skills, something fun and educational at the same time.

And the idea came...

CATERPILLARS

Cute, colorful caterpillars to help kids revise and learn multiplication. The process was easy, I downloaded the image of an apple, enlarged it and wrote the basics inside. Then, I found one caterpillar image to download, I used Paint to add a few more circles and I enlarged it so as two could fit an A3 sheet of paper. I cut them out and gave them to the children to color and write the numbers from 1 to 10 on the small circles.

Once done, it was my turn to write the multiplications on the big circles and hang them on the classroom wall in the right order. I could have left the kids do all the writing, but they are still learning how to multiply and make a lot of mistakes, so I saved us from the unnecessary drama πŸ˜…πŸ˜…

What do you think of our Caterpillar Gang? Personally, I love their bright colors, even though some would say they make it hard for kids to concentrate and learn. But oh well, it's a class of eight-year-olds we love anything colorful in here!

I didn't read this but just looked at the picture and upvoted it before. Maternity leave!!! Please take care of yourself, @ruth-girl. A lot of work still with Little Man, but I know you have a very involved husband. That will be wonderful. This is a joyful time for the family.

Having happy thoughts for you, my dear @ruth-girl.
