School diaries: tree ornaments

As you may know, I get to teach Art four hours a week at this school and I can't help myself with these Christmas crafts!!

Today I gave my kids baubles to color so that we would make our classroom tree a little "richer". Truth is, it had so few ornaments that was so depressing to look at and I wasn't going to let it that way.

I mean, that poor tree did not even have a star on top, how can it be a proper Christmas tree without a star? I had to improvise with the material I had, so I made something that looks like a star (more like a flower, but I couldn't do better at the moment). With some rings cut out of toilet paper rolls and a stapler I made this to put on top of our humble tree. Now it needs some glue and gold glitter to get more sparkly!!

The final result...

Not as impressive as I 'd like, but definitely better than the sight of empty branches from a tree that looked like it had been looted.

Tomorrow we'll make a few more, there's still enough room for more!!

Christmas is for me something very beautiful, when I see a Christmas tree or lights I am filled with many memories and nostalgia, and well your crafts I always look at them and the truth is everything is very nice.

Great job with the ornament craft. It’s coming along just fine.
