Most times the truth isn't enough.

You see I have always have this policy of saying the truth no matter the situation at hand, well I didn't just grow to become someone like that. It was kind of a moral training from home.

I grew up from a serious disciplinary home where there's really no room for any ill mannered behaviour so aside from the fact that we all know that lying is bad I grew up with zero tolerance to lying.

That back then when I boldly say the truth I will always back it up with a saying that 'there's no point lying it's not like you can beat me or something' that's what I do say to most of friends or people around.

So I believed in the whole 'the truth will set you free' proverb I say believed because my idea of the proverb kinda changed a little after an incident that occured some time back.

That feeling didn't last for long though, but honestly I wished I had just told a little lie.

Here's my experience on one of those moments that I really wished I had just told a lie to save my ass.

Sometime last year, in the state where I stay currently there was a little crisis in the state, so it led to the government to set up a rule for sit-at-home on every Mondays.

Initially the rule was strict and people were abiding to it, on every Mondays there would be no bus on the road the state would be so calm and quite, even the schools, bank, market were not allowed to operate.

So this new rule was applied to everyone one, but for some reason my boss wasn't cool with the rule and would always insist that we showed up at work.

I and my colleagues saw this as an opportunity to rest, because we only had sunday's as our resting day, we work from mon-sat.

But after sometime people stopped observing the sit-at-home and started coming out again on Mondays.

Though some part of the state still continued observing it, because sometimes on those Mondays they would be serious shoot out in the state. But still my boss wasn't showing much concern, according to him Mondays are the first day of the week and best day for business. So my colleagues and I didn't really enjoy Monday break because we were still going to work.

On one of the mondays I woke up feeling so weak, I literally had to struggle to get up from bed, so I called my boss and explained how I was feeling that morning with all honesty, funny that he didn't object to it only to resume to work the next day to receive a suspension letter for two weeks for not coming to work the previous day and giving a flimsy excuse.

The suspension was a good opportunity for me to rest and fully recover (body no be fire wood) but then the sad thing was that I won't be paid a complete salary for that month.

I felt so bad because I was really feeling very sick, so at that moment I wished I had just come up with a different story like the shoot out or something more dramatic.
