A Walk Along the Pier (Eng/Esp)

I couldn’t leave the Cinta Costera without exploring the area closest to the sea, so I walked along the pier made of large stones behind the Hernan Marin Amphitheater to take in the view from there. The view is breathtaking; there was a considerable drop—below lay the beach, calm though with a few waves.
The sea breeze was blowing strongly, and I could smell the scent of salt, which was quite pleasant to the senses. From this vantage point, you can see the various buildings in the distance, as the urban landscape merges with the majestic sea in a single scene. The Monument remains one of the most frequently visited sites on a daily basis because of these details; it offers a sense of peace in a bustling city.
In this area, you can see gannets, shearwaters, and seagulls; there were a large number of them hunting, waiting for the right moment to search the beach for food, while others rested in the water. When they took flight, there was a great commotion and wings fluttering everywhere—it reminded me of the radio commercials promoting Conferry and also the opening lines of the song “All the boats, all the birds.”
I enjoyed this walk because of the view of the beach and all the memories that came to mind. Much has changed since I used to visit this place regularly; now there are sports fields and other recreational and cultural facilities where you can enjoy some quality leisure time. From this spot, you can enjoy one of the most spectacular sunsets in the country—that hasn’t changed, and it’s one of the most delightful sights.

No podía irme de la Cinta Costera sin explorar la zona mas cercana al mar, así que me trasladé por el muelle de grandes piedras que está detrás del anfiteatro Hernán Marín para observar el paisaje desde acá. La vista es impresionante, se distinguía un desnivel considerable, abajo estaba la playa, apacible aunque con algunas olas.
La brisa marina soplaba con fuerza, se podía percibir el aroma a salitre, lo cual resultaba bastante agradable para los sentidos. Desde este enfoque se pueden ver los diferentes edificios a lo lejos, como se une lo urbano con el majestuoso mar en una sola escena. El Monumento se mantiene como uno de los sitios más visitados de forma cotidiana por estos detalles, es capaz de ofrecer paz en una ciudad convulsa.
En esta zona se aprecian alcatraces, tijeretas y gaviotas, había un gran número de ellas cazando, buscando el momento ideal para buscar en la playa su alimento, en tanto otras descansaban en el agua. Cuando se desplazaban en el cielo había una gran algarabía y alas revoloteando por todas partes, me recuerda a los comerciales que transmitían vía radio promocionando a Conferry y también al inicio de la canción "Todos los barcos, todos los pájaros".
Disfruté este paseo por la vista de la playa y por todos los recuerdos que vinieron a mi mente. Mucho ha cambiado desde que era asiduo visitante de este lugar, ahora existen canchas y otras instalaciones deportivas y culturales para disfrutar un buen rato de esparcimiento. Desde este punto se puede disfrutar de uno de los atardeceres más espectaculares del país, eso todavía no ha cambiado y es una de las imágenes más agradables.
