Other Points of Interest Near the Sea (Eng/Esp)
English version
The Peñon isn’t just a beach; it’s a place where locals from Cumaná and tourists alike gather. It’s also a community that was established many years ago, which is why you’ll see homes and buildings of various types, ranging from modest to modern.

I’ve had the chance to walk through its streets, and the community is quite large—it’s even divided into different sectors. Without a doubt, the most privileged residents are those who face the ocean and wake up to that magnificent view right before their eyes; plus, they only have to walk a few steps to enjoy a swim and the refreshing waters.

On the other hand, The Peñon is a fishing community, as evidenced by the various boats anchored off the beach or resting on the shore. In fact, when I was there, fresh fish was being sold at one of the kiosks—a perk of living in this area since it saves a trip to the market.

I’ve noticed that the construction of beach huts has increased—both the traditional ones made of palm fronds and sticks and the concrete ones—which makes tourists’ stays more enjoyable. When the sun’s rays get stronger, it’s best to seek shelter; above all, you should protect the sensitive skin of young children.

Living near the beach must be a very pleasant experience; at any time of day, you can take a walk and watch the sun and moon in their various phases as they interact with the sea. Moreover, the sunrises and sunsets must create scenes that nourish the soul. For many years, I had longed to live by the sea, but as time went by and I failed to realize that dream, I decided to focus my efforts on more achievable goals.
