Lemon is a very beneficial edible citrus fruit that is characterized by its acidic aroma and flavor. It is native to Southeast Asia, but is currently cultivated in all tropical and temperate regions. It is mainly used in the kitchen, whether in food, home remedies, even used to prepare drinks, for example:

  • In a refreshing lemonade, it can also be mixed with other fruits, such as papaya.
  • The warm juice, combined with honey to attack colds.
  • In the preparation of cocktails made with alcoholic beverages such as Cuba libre and mojito.
  • As a dressing in salads.
  • Widely used in fish and shellfish.
  • Its shell is used to give aroma and flavor to different sweets and cakes, and its juice to prepare cakes such as lemon pie.

  • Lemon Creole: It contains little juice and many seeds.

  • Lemon Tahiti: It has no seeds and its fruit is large.

  • Subtle lemon: Its size is medium, it is juicy, with a thin rind and an oval shape.

  • Lemon lime: its peel is hard, it has enough seed and its size varies. The tree begins to bear fruit after three years

Lemon is a fruit that offers many health benefits, however, we should not consider it a substitute for medications prescribed by the doctor or any other treatment.

Are you from Venezuela @sabrip? We'd LOVE to see some home-cooked healthy Venezuelan dishes using herbs and lemons. Or tell us how the grandmas fix things locally when there is no doctor, and what they use.

Nice to see you here. 😊

Hello @artemislive. Yes, I'm from Venezuela. I prepare some natural remedies with plants, for cold, phlegm and anti-inflammatory. Due to the absence and high costs of medications, many have turned to plants to prepare natural remedies. Follow me on @sabrip. There you can see my publications.

It would be interesting for many of us here in the privileged world to learn more about what you DON'T have in Venezuela, and how you adapt and use herbs etc instead. That would make for some good reading, I think. We hear little of the detail about Venezuela.
