My love for you!

Hope you all are amazing and enjoying winters. Today I came up with a question: have you ever felt distant with the one you are the closest to, even if the relationship remains the same. My friend Aarav wants to know the answer to this, which is not letting him sleep, which has struck inside him in such a fashion that his ability to sway away girls with his charm is lost.

I was sitting in my office and with a sudden knock on the door my friend and the lead designer Aarav came in with an out of sorts look, slightly placed the files on my desk and left. I was shocked with his behavior because he is a person who is always in very high spirits and when I say ALWAYS- I mean it.

I said "Hey champ, what happened? Is this the work pressure or just tired of the girls running behind you??” I winked at him.

“No, nothing, maybe I am just a little tired….I…” I cut the conversation and said with full surprise “Tired??..You are tired? Dude, we need to see the doctor, this is something very serious, let’s go…hurry up!!”

“Don’t overreact..” He said with a hint of a smile on the corner of his lips. He exclaimed “Why can I not get tired?? This is so mean of you Ms. Boss”

“Oh, shut the f*ck up…friends first…what's the matter with you?" I said.

He said “Shreya, I have fallen in love.” There was pin drop silence between us for a minute and then I laughed.

I said “OK, The joke was really good. Now, please tell me the real reason”. When his facial expression did not change it took me a few seconds to collect myself. I said “Wait, what, what are you saying? You can’t fall in love, you are not that material.”

“The disgust on your face is so obvious as if I have told you that I am a cannibal. And this is my only fear that she will also react the same fucking way.” With utter distaste he continued by saying “Now, can you please stop this nonsense and insensitive behavior of yours and help me with this?”

It took me a little time to get my normal serious face back. I asked him who this girl was to which he answered it’s his best friend. I remember this friend of his who was the college topper, full of elegance and respect with the exact right amount of maturity required. I used to think how come they are even friends because Aarav, he was a complete heart throb, he knew every single human entity in the college right from the professors to the helping staff.

I asked “So, what is the problem? Just confess to her about your feelings. Simple”

He irked and said “And get the same reaction as yours? The way you reacted was horrible and if she reacts the same way, I will be finished, our friendship will be finished and I fear that. I can’t lose the person who I share the best relationship with. I never realized how simply I fell for her. I am very stressed right now.”

I replied “See, I know you aren’t mature the way she is but trust me she just needs to see the love in your eyes that I can see right now. I mean I know you always wore your heart on your sleeve but even she knows that you were never serious about those. I know you are scared that she might take this also as a joke of yours which might end up troubling your existing relationship but when she will look deep in your eyes she will understand.”

“She has been your best friend for so long, she knows you far better than any of us. She knows that you can be severely irritating at times but you aren’t a liar. She understands this relationship, she knows that for you this friendship is way more important and you can’t be joking about this here and there. That is why, my dear friend, go and confess to her. And even if she rejects it and doesn’t feel the same way for you, respect her decision and be her loyal friend forever. That’s real love”

Sometimes in life we let things/people go just because we are too scared of sharing what we have in our heart for them. No guys, trust me the best of your relationships will not ruin because they have developed over a period of time and you have nurtured them with love, trust and respect. Do give them a try. Think of the best that could happen.
