The Stigma of Disability

Finding love 💕💕 is very easy for those who are not disabled. Disability might be accepted in the West and other parts of the world, but in Africa, most especially in Nigeria people living with disabilities are usually seen as not complete and half citizens. That's so unfortunate. A man with disabilities most especially, being crippled for any reason is usually isolated by most women in the society. He dare's not ask a girl to date him talk less of marrying him. Most Nigerian girl are very selective when it comes to marriage. Sorry to say this they want a tall, fair, handsome young man who is very rich. Am not saying a girl shouldn't look for the man of her dream. If everyone sets a big goal for whom they want to marry, then what about the disabled person who see love in the eyes of a beautiful lady or guy. I know when love is involved in a relationship anything can happen, because they say love is blind. It's good to allow love rule ones heart.

Finding True Love

My friend is in his 40s and have had the intention to settle down in marriage, but the ladies he approached turned him down due to his condition. He was discouraged and concluded in his mind that he'll not border any longer. But something happened late last year that was so significant in my friends life. He saw this lady and became close to her. After a while, he asked her hand in marriage (although he was very much afraid if she'll turn him down like the former ladies) and she accepted this year to marry him.

Truly, what God can't do doesn't exist. He met with the lady's family and through God's help they accepted him. True love they said never dies. The lady is an Igbo lady (Igbo is located in Southeastern Nigeria), while the man is from Okrika in Rivers State, Nigeria. The families fixed a date for the wedding and traditional marriage.

Marital Bliss

On the 11th of September 2021, both of them got married at the Assemblies of God church, Marine Base, Port Harcourt, Nigeria. Today they're living as husband and wife. Though disabled, but true love met him at his door. The question is: how many people can allow their relations to marry a disabled person. Disability is not a cause, it's just a situation one finds him or herself in. Don't abuse those with disabilities.
Moral lessons don't give up on yourself, it's better late than never. Better days are ahead.
