Hello everyone, my beautiful hive naija people, it's another beautiful weekend and we are so happy to have you here once again to make the engagement fun as always. And as announced the last time, our winner for every weekend engagement will be in charge of choosing the topic of discussion and also in charge of selecting the winners of his or her choice based on the engagement and response of participant. So for this weekend, our topic of discussion was chosen by our last two weeks winner @balikis95, so stay tuned, hehe.

OBJECTIVE

As we all know, the Hive Naija Weekend Engagement is focused on promoting the togetherness of the Nigeria brethren together through engagement and it's also now concerned of the well being of each and everyone who is part of the engagement. This account was opened to make the engagement more personal and official you can find the INTRODUCTION POST to read more about the purpose and aim of this new account and also do well to follow the account so as to know when a post is made.

This weekend, we will be discussing about anything as regarding to relationship but we will be focusing more on the topic chosen by our weekend coordinator @balikis95. what we really want to know are below...

  • "It is not uncommon to face problems in relationships, but what would you consider a deal breaker in your relationship with family, friends, colleagues, or an intimate partner?"

  • Do you think in a relationship distance is a barrier? If yes or no, do you have any advice to someone who might be in that position?

Remember, the aim of the hangout is to bring Nigerians together so make sure you have this in mind when responding to the questions. And feel free to add even more to it if you have any. is a long distance relationship a barrier

The problem is who we are dealing with , i wouldn't one to say yes or no because we have individual differences, I have met with ladies that doesn't like long distance relationship and she has never been in one because she always says she can't cope. And I have met with a lady that doesn't even care weather it is long distance or not meanwhile some can do the two while some can only do one, that is some people have the ability to be in a long distance relationship and also be in one that isn't far. This also goes to men some Men doesn't like long distance relationship at all.

Well if I'm going to choose then some of us prefare long distance 😂 because even if we are in a relationship we won't still feel it lols 😂 it been long don't mind me hehe 😅

Anyways the fact is that this depends on who we are dealing with, it is an individual choice and how one can hold his or herself before they see their partner.

Do I have any advice

Yes I do it is good to learn how to do both that is how to be in a long distance relationship and the one near, just in case you partner is on a journey for months or years you will be able to wait, self control of the body is so necessary and to do this it requires discipline and do on. So in a nutshell it is good to be both.

This is true. We all have our preferences, while some prefer a long distance, others can do it.

Thanks for this. I will have to drop mine too, maybe later. The light issue around is giving me an ache. Anyways let's see what @princessbusayo, @merit.ahama, @ksam, @justfavour, and @mrenglish have in mind.

Ummm. Individual choice is a factor, that is true. But then I think the key factor is what the individual wants out of the relationship. Many will always want someone to hold😂 if you know what I mean.

In this matter of relationship, I remember stating that the deal breaker for me is when the lady isn't making efforts for growth, or is satisfied being in one position for a long time.

If I see you ain't making efforts to grow, it means you are nothing short of a liability.

Secondly about Long distance relationship.

I will always say every relationship should be a ship with a destination. This means that so long both partners love each other and have a goal for their relationship, distance wouldn't be a barrier.

I think distance in a relationship is also a thing of the mind, your partner can always be with you physically yet far from you emotionally and otherwise. And your partner maybe far from you physically yet you both feel as though you are always together physically.

Communication I would say is the vital part of any relationship. True distance is not in the place but in the communication. How well you communicate with your partner determine how close you two are.

I have a friend who's partner (girlfriend) always comes visiting, at a point, he told her to reduce the way she visits him to once or twice a week. He told her this because even when she comes, they hardly talk. Most times he comes to my house when she's around because of how quiet the house is when she's around.

Me on the other hand think it will be great if my partner always come visiting, but then she's always traveling for work, but our communication is on a very high level.

My advice is that you shouldn't be in a relationship that lacks communication, else you will easily get fed up. And again every relationship should have a goal, with both partners striving to achieve the goal.

Hehe ... Trust issues? That means the relationship foundation wasn't rightly built on this. You can be with someone in a close relationship and they will end up cheating.
