Happy Weekend Everyone !

What are the most common sources of stress for men?

I think the biggest stress for Men is responsibility.
Society expects men to handle all burdens and he mustn't show emotions else he'll be considered weak

I totally agree with this, and it's also the reason we should all realize that these things are man made. Society put these expectations on men and only society can relieve them of it.

Wow, nice being here again.

The major thing that causes stress to men is financial stress, and stress on how to find a good life partner.

Another thing is , men personally hardly share what disturbs them, because we feel no body will be able to help. A lot of people look up to men and at times the billings becomes much and it drains us much.

But in all God will help us.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Should that be termed as Ego?

0
0
0.000
avatar

My sister it's not ego oooo.

But it Sha depends on who is involve here.

I had a friend back then, the guy was disturb , like so so disturbed. He was so close to me that's how I got to notice that he's not all right. He's dating and have parents.

So I asked him, if he has shared tge problem with his family members or girlfriend. He said no, that there's no need . I asked how ?

He said that those ones are also part of the billings that's giving him sleepless night. He explained a lot of things and I felt for him.

So you see , no need of sharing because you know no help might come. Some can't even render moral assistance.

Hmmmmmm and the moral asst sef goes a long way at times than the financial help sef

I don't think it is o. I think they feel don't won't get help if they do ask

0

Yeah I think someone mentioned that too. Even superman gets tired so I just feel like there should be a change in this general orientation or mentality of theirs

0

If billing is too much, what then is his voice for? See, nobody can put a stop to billing except the man whose pocket hurts!

0

avatar

Hahahahahah this response is a bit funny.

But you sha have a point ooo, no doubt.

But the truth is , you might not really understand . And again people and conditions are different

0
0
0.000
avatar

My aim was for it to be funny. Not too serious.😂 But yeah, it's not a straight line. In some situations, it's difficult to say no. Example, a father to his kids. But when we frame it as "billing" I take it that you're referring to a case where the man can speak up and say no, but chooses not to.

0
0
0.000
avatar

Ahahahaha truly you have cracked me 🤣🤣🤣

Yea you are right. There are some necessary responsibilities that comes in form of "billings" and it gets bad if the funds is not available to attend to the issues and you know you can't say no. And the truth is , no matter how strong you are as a man it will disturb you mentally.

We only MAN UP.

For me, the stress I know men passes through that gets to affect them is physical and mental stress which tells a lot on them, reducing their lifespan if their health is not properly managed. The burden of shouldering their responsibilities makes them push more no matter what

Secondly, the challenges men face in sharing their emotional and mental struggles is that they don't wanna be seen WEAK. That says it all.

Lastly! I want to shout and scream this that THE MALE ROLE MODEL FOR OUR SOCIETY IS TINUBU!!!!!!!!
Come and beat me where I am 🤸🤸🤸🤸🤸

Happy weekend guys and belated happy international men's day to all the men in our community who stand for love, justice and fairness.

What are the biggest challenges young men face when it comes to discussing their emotional and mental struggles?”

If this question is thrown at me a million times, my answer would remain the same. The biggest challenge young men face when discussing their emotional and mental struggles is the fear of acceptance. Many older Nigerian men were raised to bottle up their emotions and cope by joking about even the most sensitive experiences with their peers. Unfortunately, younger men are following that same path.

We talk about mental health every day, yet when young men gather with their friends, they struggle to open up because they fear being mocked or seen as less masculine for expressing their feelings. They fear that their experiences might be seen as less valid, downplayed or turned into jokes. But I believe that if these young men come together to create genuine communities for themselves that validate their emotions, and at the same time, offer real support, half of their problems would be solved.

@joeboi24 care to share your thoughts?

Hi @yechee, happy weekend in advance ✨

Yes, I agree that many men, especially those in their twenties, get mocked by their peers for expressing emotional pain.
But I've also seen groups of friends who are genuinely attentive and supportive, they talk about almost everything and try to find solutions to each other's problems. So I think the kind of friends (both gender) a man surrounds himself with can play a big role in his mental and emotional health.

avatar

Hi Phyna, you're absolutely correct. The group of male friends who offer both moral and emotional support exists. However, my response addresses the fact that they are the exceptions, not the norm.I mean, if you look around, you'll understand what I mean and see why more men need to offer emotional support to their friends instead of making jokes out of every senstive pain they regard as insignificant.

I do appreciate your POV and love how articulate you were in presenting your opinion. Have a lovely weekend!🙂❤️

God bless All Men trying their best!!!

Being a man is such a difficult thing especially in our era and you know why it is so?

It is because even your immediate family members expects heaven from you
It gets so bad that a point, you get scared of where you once called HOME because of the unpredictable things someone might say to you subtly or with seriousness.

The weight men carry is just so much, is it the financial pressure? Is it the Peer pressure? Is it the fear of failure at the place of work?

It's just so enormous to mention.

And to cap it all, "MEN DON'T CRY" which invariably means you can't even find someone to share the burdens of your challenges with because when you do and eventually it was the wrong person, they see it that you're complaining and that you are weak.

And for people that will listen, you know what they eventually tell you? They tell you to "MAN UP" and be a man as if you were a woman.

Men have ego and rather than being seen as weak and complainers, they will rather keep the problem to themselves.

Men rather take the last spot in life rather than allowing their problems look important to worry someone even when it should be something to worry about.

It's well

Happy weekend everyone.....so I want to contribute to what are the biggest challenges young men face when discussing their emotional and mental struggles first of all I would like to say happy international men's day and I want to appreciate you all. okay so I would say the biggest challenges young men face with discussing their emotional and mental struggle is seen in phrases like men don't cry, I'm a man. This short phrases have played a role to why some men feel the need to keep their emotions to themselves, so even when they are going through emotional and mental struggles they find it hard to speak out. I just want to say its okay to voice out, cry if you want to it doesn't mean you are approaching things wrongly it only shows you are human. Enjoy your weekend everyone.

Hello everyone! It's my first time here.🤭

About the second question, I think the most common sources of stress for our country men are money, family, and relationships. Making enough to cover bills, support loved ones, and still have something left to save is hard. And because many men naturally take on the role of provider, they often end up carrying most of the financial weight for their family or even an unmarried partner. All of that can lead to serious physical, mental, and emotional stress, especially when the expectationss are way bigger than the income 🙂.

0

avatar

That's really true.

These things are the reasons men go through stress, especially in this country. Subconsciously, we know the role of providing is upon us, amd when an fails to, it affects his mindset kind of. So, the reason for the stress.

It's good to have you here on the hangout. Hope to see you more 🙂.

” What are the biggest challenges young men face when it comes to discussing their emotional and mental struggles?”

Some men just don’t want to be mocked, a man can share his serious problems with bills, work, responsibilities and people around might just respond with “na so man life be” nothing else.

Men also need love, men also need encouragement, they need to be pampered once in a while 😄 it doesn't make them feel alone and condemned, it puts them at ease to share their struggles.

I will say Financial Struggles, because it's like that's the one thing that can make a man be in a spot, I have friends who have alot of responsibilities, and somehow the still trying to keep up with other things. But it is sure that it is this financial struggles that gets to them more.

Even though people will say it is everyone that has this struggle, but for a man ,this is the most.

As usual , I'm home chilling, no time to waste time, see as this economy has bad reach, I didn't attend Owanbe since expect in last February and early march.
I believe this remaining days of this month i might see one by God's grace.

........omo, if he easy to be man, take my shoes and go 😭, even when my energy down I dey drink 🍷
...😁😁

This is a very deep topic, but then I will do the little I can.

Talking about stress in men, first off there's the pressure to be always available, to always show up, the pressure to provide, coupled with the fact that there's no job out there, whereas everybody is expecting you to do something. Relationship has it's own stress too, as a man, you will want to be supportive, loving, strong, providing and working at the same time. And no one really sees how hard and heavy that is, it's not as simple as it sounds.

Men struggle, we struggle emotionally too. From a young age most of us have been doing one or two things for ourselves, we were always told we are a man and we should act like one. So, when fear, doubt and the likes sets in, we often hide it, some of us become lonely even when we are not alone. It's not so easy to deal with. You share it out and receive some backlash as if men aren't humans too.

But then, there are those who listen, who speak up and guide us. I love the likes of Dr Paul of Dunamis, I admire is courage and the fact that he speaks out everytime, the likes of VDM too, even though some claim to not like him, but most of the things he does are ones to emulate, talk of the like of Mrmacaroni, he doesn't care who you're, he will talk, there's this guy leading the Inecreform stuffs too. This are Father's, mentors and leaders. They are the ones that remind us that we are men and we are human as well.

@mikechrist @mathewdaddywah @daverick common, let's here from you.
