Sam’s Hangout Week #120 - Summary/Highlights

Summary Of The Hangout
Yes o, my people! It’s a great pleasure to give a summary of another weekend in the Sam’s hangout and today is not an exception. We appreciate @yechee for suggesting a topic for the discussion.

In the concluded hangout, we had over 30+ comments! We can go harder this week, right? Together, we can make big things happen. We want to specially appreciate those that gave their thoughts on the topic and also participated fully in the hangout. We had over 5+ people who joined us this past weekend. We want to say a big thank you for making time for us and we hope to see you all this weekend too.
The title was HYPER-INDEPENDENCE SAM’S HANGOUT WK 120.
We actually got some people joining us for the first time and I want to encourage us to keep up the good work of telling those of our brethren that are yet to know about the hangout, and also don’t forget to join our discord server where we get to interact more and also stay informed. Remember it happens here every weekend (Friday to Sunday). Once again, thank you and don’t forget that without you all of this won’t be possible.

See you again this Friday! Please remember; The engagement doesn't stop here, please check up on your brothers and sisters. Assist and support them with kind words and encouragement. Together we can all grow.

I think that you can lean on people without leaning on people. For example, I used to tell my deepest secrets to people in IRC on chatrooms, not all of them, not to everybody. But it was a relief being able to talk about them. Although they were written in private messaging to people around the world that didn't speak my language and that probably wouldn't be able to do something about it. But the listening is the same, no matter who listens. Verbalizing these things helped and I think it was a way of therapy to get my point across.
So even when you are super independent you can rely on a world of people that might not be super close, or even know you at all. But still feels like you are leaning on someone. Take for example this comment, coming from someone you haven't met and probably will never do. But we still can discuss ideas, feelings, crisis and learn from each other. While strictly not 'relying' or being dependent off me.
Hmmmm this is another angle to look at it
This topic was an eye opener to not settle for "hyper" independence, even though it looks like strength, it is not. We need each other to survive
It was an interesting topic with great thoughts seeing the highlights. On to the next weekend
Let's always keep positive
“Reading through everyone’s responses on this topic felt different. What stood out to me the most was chefqueen’s comment that hyper-independence is seldom a choice; life simply happens to leave people with no one to lean on. I have seen that pattern as well, people being labeled as ‘strong’ when really they just never had a safety net. Great hangout; I appreciate the space you guys have created for this kind of honest reflection.
I like to count myself as someone who has a fondness for independence. In the same vein, I don't hesitate to remind myself that independence simply limits my dependence on others. It doesn't necessarily mean I have to shoulder every oohhhs and aahhhs alone.
These were all fabulous engagements from everyone.... Great job 👍🏼🤭❤️.
