👋 ¡Hola, @sketchbook!

Este es mi primer post en esta comunidad, y me alegra muchísimo poder compartir un proyecto que, sinceramente, debía entregar hace una semana pero entre los cortes de electricidad tan recurrentes y los cambios de ritmo que eso trae, me tocó retrasar varias entregas. Aun así, aquí estoy, mostrando un trabajo que me exigió paciencia, criterio objetividad y volver a conectar con la creatividad después de varios bloqueos.

This is my first post in this community, and I’m so happy to share a project that, honestly, I was supposed to turn in a week ago. Between the frequent power outages and the disruptions they cause, I had to push back several deadlines. Still, here I am, showcasing a project that required patience, good judgment, and reconnecting with my creativity after several creative blocks.

📜 Sobre el proyecto: VITELA

El logo que presento hoy es para un grupo de estudio llamado Vitela.
La vitela es un tipo de pergamino fino, de alta calidad, usado históricamente para manuscritos importantes. Su esencia es la durabilidad, la pureza del material y la idea de preservar conocimiento valioso.

Y eso es justamente lo que este grupo quería transmitir:
un espacio donde el aprendizaje se cuida, se trabaja y se conserva como algo precioso.

Aunque los logos no siempre deben representar literalmente lo que la empresa o grupo “vende”, en este caso el cliente sí pidió que el ícono tuviera la forma de un pergamino vitela. Ese fue el reto principal.

📜 About the project: VITELA

The logo I’m presenting today is for a study group called Vitela.
Vitela is a type of fine, high-quality parchment historically used for important manuscripts. Its essence lies in durability, the purity of the material, and the idea of preserving valuable knowledge.

And that is exactly what this group wanted to convey:
a space where learning is nurtured, cultivated, and preserved as something precious.

Although logos don’t always have to literally represent what the company or group “sells,” in this case the client did ask that the icon take the shape of a vitela parchment. That was the main challenge.

En esta fase estuve explorando ideas, pero nada me cuadraba.
Yo tenía en mente “pergamino”, y como muchos, lo primero que imaginé fue un pergamino con rasgaduras en los bordes. Pero ahí estaba el problema:
la vitela NO tiene rasgaduras, porque es un pergamino de alta calidad, limpio, fino y bien cortado.

Por eso, todos los primeros intentos se sentían incorrectos.
Visualmente parecían pergaminos viejos, desgastados… y eso iba en contra del concepto.

In this phase, I was exploring ideas, but nothing felt right.
I had “parchment” in mind, and like many people, the first thing I imagined was a parchment with tears along the edges. But there was the problem:
vellum does NOT have tears, because it is a high-quality, clean, fine, and well-cut parchment.

That’s why all the early attempts felt wrong.
Visually, they looked like old, worn-out parchments… and that went against the concept.

En la siguiente imagen se ven otros intentos donde traté de simplificar el ícono.
Pero al verlos con calma, me di cuenta de algo curioso:
parecían la trompa de un elefante.

Y claro, si un ícono genera asociaciones equivocadas, no funciona.
Así que descarté esa línea también.

The following image shows other attempts where I tried to simplify the icon.
But upon looking at them calmly, I realized something curious:
they looked like an elephant’s trunk.

And of course, if an icon creates the wrong associations, it doesn’t work.
So I discarded that line of thinking as well.

📐 Tercera etapa: el pergamino correcto

Finalmente decidí volver al concepto original:
un pergamino sin rasgaduras, limpio, elegante, digno de la vitela real.

Así que creé un pergamino en perspectiva, con líneas suaves y proporciones más modernas.
Cuando por fin logré una forma que me transmitía calidad, supe que ese era el camino.

📐 Third stage: the right scroll

Finally, I decided to go back to the original concept:
a scroll without tears, clean, elegant, worthy of real parchment.

So I created a scroll in perspective, with smooth lines and more modern proportions.
When I finally achieved a shape that conveyed quality, I knew that was the way to go.

🔤 Cuarta etapa: la tipografía

Con el ícono listo, pasé a buscar una tipografía que transmitiera tradición, estudio y un toque artesanal.
Me fui por un estilo con influencia árabe/antigua, que combinara con la idea del pergamino.

Pero surgió otro problema:
¿Dónde coloco el ícono?

Probé arriba, a un lado, dentro de un marco… nada se sentía natural.

Hasta que se me ocurrió algo:
¿Y si el ícono se integra en la letra T de Vitela?

Y ahí nació el imagotipo.

🔤 Stage Four: The Typography

With the icon ready, I moved on to finding a typeface that conveyed tradition, scholarship, and a handcrafted touch.
I went for a style with Arabic/ancient influences, which would complement the parchment concept.

But another problem arose:
Where do I place the icon?

I tried above it, to the side, inside a frame… nothing felt natural.

Until I had an idea:
What if the icon were integrated into the letter T of Vitela?

And that’s how the imagotipo was born.

✨ Quinta etapa: el imagotipo final

Una vez que integré el pergamino en la T, todo encajó.
El nombre, el símbolo, la esencia del grupo… todo se alineó.

A partir de ahí pude avanzar con las aplicaciones:

• Logo sobre libro para reforzar el concepto de conocimiento.
• Paleta de colores inspirada en tonos de pergamino y dorado.
• Aplicación en libreta para evaluar elegancia y contraste.
• Aplicación en gorra para probar bordado y legibilidad.
• Aplicación en hoodie con el ícono al frente y la referencia bíblica al reverso.
• Presentación final del sistema de marca con todas las piezas juntas.

✨ Stage Five: The Final Logo

Once I integrated the parchment into the T, everything fell into place.
The name, the symbol, the essence of the group… everything aligned.

From there, I was able to move forward with the applications:

• Logo on a book to reinforce the concept of knowledge.
• Color palette inspired by parchment and gold tones.
• Application on a notebook to evaluate elegance and contrast.
• Application on a cap to test embroidery and legibility.
• Application on a hoodie with the icon on the front and the biblical reference on the back.
• Final presentation of the brand system with all the pieces together.
