Experiencing some western meals.

Hello everyone,
Today I am coming with my another blog. I was Visited Chef's Table BD twice last week and these are the items I tried. I will group them within the categories of individual restaurants.

Restaurant: Dos Locos Mexican Grill

Texas Chilli Fries

  • Price: BDT 425

A plate full of fries, beef, some sauces topped with a scoop of sour cream. Nothing revolutionary, I was honestly expecting Chilli Con Carne (yep my bad 😅) made with beef, which will hit me right on the face with spices. This is good still, but not as spicy as I would like it. Also, way overpriced for just a plate of fries.

Beef Enchiladas

  • Price: BDT 525

Enchilada is made by rolling a tortilla around a filling of choice, topped with cheese and covered in savory sauce. We were served with two rolls of beef enchilada covered in cheese along with rice, salsa and a separate sauce I am unaware of. The beef inside the enchiladas were tender and flavorful. It is a very filling plate of food, everything works well together. The rice tasted nice but it fell a little flat to me compared to the enchiladas which were very flavorful. The sauce that you see on that plastic bowl, I don't know what it was but it really didn't add much to the dish in terms of flavor and taste.

Overall, the experience was okay. Good quality, good tasting food. However, comparing it to Taco Bell, the flavors fell flat and slightly. I was expecting a burst of spices and punchy flavors as found in Taco Bell. But compared to other places that sell "Mexican Food" with tomato sauce and mayonnaise, Dos Locos was much much better. I appreciate and respect their endeavour to bring Authentic Mexican Food to the Dhaka Food Scene.

Restaurant: 138 East

Tex Mex Fries

  • Price: 444

A plate of French fries covered in cheese. Loved the fact that they managed to cover the entirety of the plate with tons of mozzarella, something I found to be very rare, in Dhaka. It was drizzled with a creamy sauce as well. This is what cheesy fries should be like. Loved it, it was very filling. But it is just overpriced. At the end of the day it is just French fries and paying 500 taka for it is just too much.

Restaurant: Uncle Sam's

Signature Crepes

  • I forgot the price 😅

IMG_1630502942588.jpg

I'm late to the Uncle Sam's hype train but the hype was worth it! I'm officially a huge stan of Uncle Sam's from now on. Tried the Signature Crepes which was drizzled with Nutella along with a filling of Kinder Bueno and Oreo, I believe (I forgot, apologies) with a side of vanilla ice cream. I honestly thought the dish would be a too sweet considering the amount of milk chocolate products they are putting in, but to my surprise it was perfect. The crepes were cooked perfectly while the Kinder provided diversity in texture with that crunch. The vanilla ice cream just binded everything together. It was a party in my mouth both in terms of taste and texture. A solid 💯💯!

Oreo Waffles (half)

Again, forgot the price. Nothing crazy here, just your regular waffles covered in Oreo Crumble, Nutella and a side of vanilla ice cream. Simple, easy, delicious. Nothing to fault here.
