Being Faithful Is Not Being Perfect

I have come to understand that it takes being faithful to be able to achieve greatness in what you do. More so, faithfulness is what acts as the bridge between your dreams and their fulfilment. It does not mean that you are perfect, but it means consistently showing up, putting in efforts, being committed to a course, and taking continuous actions. It does not matter how small what you do now may be, by being faithful and committed to it, then it has the ability to grow. After all, if you will be faithful in the little, then you have already positioned yourself for the bigger. It is also important to state that faithfulness is not what is gifted, but the choice that you have to make.

It is worthy to note that faithfulness does not mean a state of perfection, nor to always get something right without flaws, nor to never fall short. Rather, it means that you keep making attempt, trying, and not giving up. You may not even be as talented as someone else, but if you are faithfully committed to what you are doing, there is no doubt, you will excel at it. This reminds me of what a very respected mentor once said sometimes ago; "being diligent in what you do (which can also pass for faithfulness in this context) will open doors for you among the people in high places. Trust me, there are some places that faithfulness can get you to, that even your talent would not have gotten you to.

My friend once told me how he got his present job. Before that, after his graduation, he could not get his desired job in his field of study, so he decided to manage the one that came to him. It was not what he desired, and it paid very little, but he did it with all heart. As a matter of fact, he would go almost beyond his limit to add a touch of expertise even in the very little tasks that he was assigned. He was so faithful that you could easily think that he was the owner or that he had a major stake in the company. All these while, he did not know that one of the company's major customers was taking notice of him and the way be worked.

Each time the customer would come to transact with them, he would take notice of him, and sometimes, he would tip him because of his discharge of duty. After a few months of working there, the customer came again as usual, but this time, it was with an offer for him. He told him that he just completed his ultra-modern company facility, and he is looking for someone to head it, then he thought of him. That was how the man offered him the job, and it came with a lot of benefits. What paved the way for him was how he was faithful in his former place of work.

What matters is not how perfect you are, but how committed you remain in what you are doing. What is the point of being capable when you will not even be available for the task? Would you rather pick someone who is capable but will never be available or someone who is available even if not as much capable but willing to learn? This is why it has been said that availability holds more preference than capability. What you are doing may be difficult, and no one may even be watching you, but what is more important is that you stay on course. Faithfulness may not be convenient, and may even be demanding, but the result at the end is always worth it.

Faithfulness is not automatic, nor what is gotten at the click of a button, but it develops little by little in the decisions that you take on a daily basis. For example, when you do a task that should be done even if you are tired or do not feel like it. Then when you put in your best in doing what you are doing even if no one is noticing you. How you are faithful in the little things will determine how you will be in the much bigger things if you will get the opportunity. So in your daily activities and in whatever you do, you should not allow external pressure to sway you off the right course - be faithful and diligent.
