Getting Better On Your Successes

Success should be worked on to be improved so that it will not become obsolete. You will be surprised to know that successes, sometimes, are bound by time. That is, they may remain valid for a period of time and if they are not worked on nor improved, they may become invalid. This is why success is a never-ending adventure. There are many things that people considered as major achievements in the last couple of decades that will not make it to the front door today. This is because as the world gets more evolved, new requirements need to be met and the standards change.

In this part of the world, before a student gains admission in the university, they have to undergo a University Matriculation Examination. Normally, the validity of the examination is about 1 year or a little beyond that depending on the academic calendar. No matter how excellently well a student does in the examination, if he does not use it to enter university within the stipulated time, he will have to rewrite it if it becomes invalid. Similarly, in life, success has to to be upgraded so that it will not become invalid.

It is worthy to note that the requirement of success changes with time and this also means that you should not settle for just good when there is an opportunity to improve to become better. One thing to always have in mind is that a sustainable success is not a onetime event nor a once-and-for-all achievement but what you continuously build on over and again. This is why it has been said that success should not be regarded as a final destination but a lifetime journey. In the race of life, if you stop running, you start losing. But as long as you keep putting in actions and keep improving on your successes, then you will stay relevant.

Your relevance is almost a direct function of the value you add to life. However, to add value, you need to be committed to excellence, which, on its own, is success. When you have achieved success, you should not put a halt to the actions that brought you to success. What many people may not know is that it requires as much work as you put in to get success for it to be sustained. For every success you attain, there will still be room for you to improve on it. If someone has put in an extensive amount of work in his academics in the first semester and got a very nice grade, if he does not maintain it in other semesters, it may affect the first one that he thinks he had succeeded at.

It is worth mentioning that to achieve success, one has to pass through obvious tests, challenges et all. It is by facing and scaling through those challenges that success comes. The reason why people are given results at the end of their academic years is because they have pass through tests and examinations. Without examination, there will be nothing to prove that you are qualified for the result. A student that does not sit for exams has already excluded himself from the result. In the same way, when life's challenges come, you have to see it as a pathway to your success.

The more intense the challenges you have to face, the better the success in view and the bigger the stake. Obviously, you will agree with me that the examinations you took during your primary school days and the ones you too for your university degrees are not the same in relation to difficulty level. The reason is that as you progress, the prize becomes bigger and the stakes become higher. So you see, each time it seems like you are passing through challenges, just keep pressing on, because you might just be at the final stage of hitting your breakthrough moment. Furthermore, when you hit the breakthrough moment, do not stop at it - always strive to improve and become better.

In life, what matters more is not how many people's achievements you have beat, but how you have improved on your own achievement. If you beat someone's record but has failed to beat your own record, then progress has not really been made. This is why you should remove your mind from competition mentality and rather focus on self-improvement mentality.

Peace on y'all

Hi @samminator

I liked this you mentioned "the requirement for success changes over time", certainly as time progresses, we mature as a person, grow as professionals, and fill ourselves with experience, elements that in my view are largely the key to success.

Best regards, be well.

That's right. As we gather experiences, we should grow by them and improve on ourselves.

Thanks for the nice comment buddy
