Learning To Love Yourself

A lot of people focus their energy on loving others and things but do not deem it fit to love themselves too. It is good to love others, but you should also love yourself. Obviously, two truths can coexist without conflicting against each other, so you can still love others and yourself too. Loving yourself is not pride, it is not overestimating yourself, it is not being self-centered, it means knowing and appreciating your real worth. If you love yourself, you will not submerge yourself in the pursuit of someone that cares less out you. Of course, you will have the ability to set boundaries and say "no" when it is necessary.

It is worthy to note that someone that does not love themself will not be able to love you. It is intrapersonal love that grows into interpersonal love. That is, your love for others will have to flow from within and from your love for yourself. Obviously, no one can give what they do not already have. Loving yourself starts with accepting yourself the way that you are. You may not have had a choice of your background, but it should not affect your self worth. No matter where you are now, one thing to note is that you are unique and you should be aware of that. When you accept yourself the way you are and embrace your uniqueness, you will discover that you are worth more than you think.

You have to think well of yourself because it affects not only the way you see yourself but your actions. You do not have to accept "anyhow" when you can go for the best. One thing to constantly remind yourself is that your life is not just important but unique and as such, it is meant to be lived well. Loving yourself is not a gift or something that someone is born with, it is rather a choice that one has made for themself.

There is a level of peace that comes when someone loves themself which also breeds happiness, and the it enables one to love others as well. Acknowledging that you are not perfect (no one is) but it does not make you to look down on yourself. If you look down on yourself, others will do the same thing to you. But when you do not look down on yourself, no one will be able to look down on you. If you rate yourself like a nobody, others will treat you the same way, but if you rate yourself positively, others will rate you positively.

No matter your current level, it should not affect your future and as such, it should not make you to stop loving yourself. The truth is that self-love makes life worth living. Many people that have given up hope is because of lack of love as a result of the prevailing situation. However, the truth is that your situation should not affect your love but your love should affect your situation through your actions.

Respect has a foundation that is rooted in love. If you cannot love yourself, you may not be able to respect yourself and that means that you may not able to respect others. As you go about your normal hustle and as you care for others, also remember to take care of yourself. If you live for others and cannot live for yourself, then you have a very long way to go.

Physical and mental wellbeing starts from loving yourself. Obviously, you will take care of yourself if you love yourself, and not leaving yourself in the hands of fate. More so, you should not allow negative situation to dictate the pace of your life. Nothing and no one has a better definition of your life than you, so do not allow someone's opinion about you to affect your disposition to life negatively. Always have in mind that you are here to fulfil a purpose and not to serve as a placeholder or just to fill up space.
