Looking At People's Intentions

Sometimes, a seemingly wrong action may have a good intention behind it and when you judge the person by just the action, you may judge them wrongly. This is why you have to pause for a while before you judge and try to ask questions and try to find out the reasons behind the actions. You do not have to be strict and rigid when judging people's actions. There should be a room for benefit of doubt, because things may not necessarily be as they appear on the peripheral.

There are times when someone may have a right intention but their method of execution may not suit you well. If you do not look beyond the actions, you may mis-judge. When you look beyond the bend, you will understand that there are things that you would have been angry about that do not require your anger because they are not what they appear.

I once watched a movie where a guy went to visit his friend. On getting there, his friend was not around, as she had gone to get some groceries, but something happened. He saw the friend's father in a very critical medical condition and was already at the point of death. At that point, he was left with little or no choice, and calling an ambulance to take him to the hospital will waste a lot of time because of the location they were living. At that moment, he grabbed the friend's father and put him on his motorcycle and fastened him to himself with a rope.

Then they set out for the hospital. He put a call across to his friend while still on the bike, telling her that she should meet them in the hospital. By the time they arrived at the hospital on the bike, she was already arriving and she was shocked to see her father being brought him with a bike. When they arrived, the doctors took over and started attending to the father right in the emergency entrance. But all the friend was seeing was that they brought her father in with a bike instead of an ambulance and that made her furious.

At that spot, she approached her friend with a harsh tone and demanded why he could not see any other means of transport to bring her father but a bike. Before he could explain to her that he had no choice and the condition he met him was terribly bad, the doctor walked in and congratulated the guy for his act of bravery. The doctor told them that if he had wasted a few more seconds, the father would have died. At this point, she was left speechless and it dawned on her that the friend had a very right intention - to save her father and he had to use the available means to achieve that.

You see, there are times that you need to suspend your natural sense of judgement for a bit and look far away from the action to the intention. It is worthy to note that for every action that someone takes, there will always be an underlying intention or reason for it. It will be worthwhile if you can enquire of the reasons before reacting to it, instead of just to base you reactions on mere assumptions.

It is worthy to note that humans are very far from achieving the state of perfection, so do not expect a perfect action from an imperfect human. Even you yourself are not perfect, so it will be impossible to expect others to either be perfect or to have perfect actions at all times. Always try to look at intentions.
