Putting Forth Actions To Follow Inspiration

There was a time that I went to a particular place for vacation and I saw the beautiful piece of nature which triggered some certain mindset in me. In fact, I was inspired by them and I already planned on what to do when I come back. However, when I came back, I got busy with other things that I forgot to put actions on my inspiration and for almost 1 year, nothing came out of it until I decided to act on it. That was when I began to see results. This made me to understand that without actions, inspiration will be almost futile. When you are inspired to do something, then you have to put the required actions immediately to avoid obsoletion.

One of the things that I have understood in life is that there are things that are affected by the passage of seasons and times. That is, as time goes by, they are rendered less potent except actions are taken on them. One of them is inspiration. As you are inspired to do something, you need to take actions immediately, so that the inspiration will not grow cold, or the potential result become diminished. Trust me, as an idea or an inspiration is hitting you, it may also be going to someone else out there. If you do not put forth your actions on time, you will be surprised how the next person will take hold of the opportunity and shine.

There was a time, during one of our community postings for a few months in one of the jobs we undertook a few years. When we got to the community, we discovered that there was no potable water to drink, because the road contractors had damaged the pipe bringing water to the village, so the locals would have to trek to the next village where someone had sunk a borehole to buy water and then trek back. When we got there, in the first few days, we saw the challenges, and we discussed within ourselves how to take advantage of the opportunity which others saw as challenges. We came up with a plan: instead of the people going to the next village to buy water, we can bring the water to them with the project van and sell to them.

So we discussed with our supervisor to allow us use the project van on the premise that we will remit a certain percentage to them. He agreed and we started. In the very first week we did that, we made some really good money even after remitting the percentage, and we were happy. We kept on with the business and was making money from it. Not too long, one of the locals that was a transporter approached us and told that he had the same plan for some weeks before we came, but he never took actions on it. He was procrastinating the action until it was overtaken. Well, out of our magnanimity, we absorbed him into the business and he was also happy.

The business ran for a couple of months until we left the community and handed over to him, by that time, the pipe that was damaged was almost completed. From this story, you will understand the need for prompt action. Everyday we live, we encounter inspiration from a whole lot of things, but one thing to know is that it will still require you to take actions in order to benefit from it. It is worthy to note that idea and inspirations will not wait for you. It is either you act on them or someone else does.

A lot of the people that complain that they lack opportunity is simply because they have not maximized the inspiration that they get from the things around them. If you look closely with an open mind, you will realise that opportunities are all around you. But the truth is that the opportunity will also place responsibility on you to act. Many people may be exposed to the same opportunity at the same time, but it is the person that will put timely action on it that will get the full benefit of the opportunity. Always have in mind that the action that will deliver maximally has to be right, done rightly, and done at the right time.
