Welcoming And Reacting Positively To Change

There is one thing that has remained constant in life and that is "change." As a matter of fact, without change, life and nature would not be desired because they will be nothing to look and hope for. One of the reasons why people go through life even in the midst of challenges is because of the hopes of a positive change. This means that the very essence of human life is summed up as "progression in change," which is also the very thing needed to prove that humans are actually living. So no matter what you do and how much you try, you cannot stop change from happening, what you can do is to position yourself to react positively to the changes as they come.

More often than not, it is not the change that determines what eventually becomes of you but how you have responded to the change. When something changes (maybe in nature, in your environment, or in other aspects of life), you may not be the only one to witness the change, but why is it that the outcome of the change varies from person to person? The simple answer is because they respond differently to the change. In life, change is the constant of the equation while the humans remain the variable. That is, we determine how the change affects us and not the change determining it for us.

In sailing for example, when you are on the sea, you may not be able to determine how the nature of the water may be. You may not stop the boisterous wind from blowing, you may not prevent the storm from hitting, the only thing you can do is to determine how the storm will affect you by directing your sail and using the storm as a leverage to even sail better or doing otherwise and getting sunk. So you see, even in the midst of storm, you can still direct your sail aright. This is the reason you need to always have yourself prepared to respond positively to changes.

However, there is one thing you need to know about change: there are changes that you cannot determine, there are also changes that you can create, but you need an extensive amount of maturity and wisdom to be able to distinguish between both of them. Instead of waiting for changes to occur so that you can react or respond to them, it will be better and more worthy to create the kind of change that you want. Yes, you may not be able to create the whole changes, but at least, do not be entirely at the mercies of the change that other people create.

It is true that changes occur so frequently, it is still worthy to note that they are results from actions of others, so you too can put forth your actions to also create your own change. If you do not consciously create the kind of change you desire by your own actions, when other people create their own change through their own actions, you may be at the mercies of the change. Successful people do not just wait for things to happen or for them to react to changes, they create their own change by being proactive (not reactive). If something is happening in a way that you do not like, you do not have to sit and hope for it to get better with time; you may wait for so long; you need to do something to create your own desired result.

In life, there are things that do not happen by chance but by conscious choice made by people to perform certain actions. The truth is, whether you like it or not, and with or without your permission, changes must occur. The only things you have a choice of is either to act towards creating your own change or being responsive to other people's change. The things that you see manifesting today is a direct result of actions of the past (both yours and others). In the same way, what will manifest tomorrow will be as a result of the actions of the present moment. So even if you are not able to determine the changes of today, you can influence the one of tomorrow by your actions of today.
