When Your Actions Come At The Right Time

A lot of people think that doing the right things is the only requirement to obtaining the right result. Well, this is needed too, but you have to know that the right action should also be taken at the right time in order for it to yield the right result. In fact, anything that is not done in the time that is allocated or suitable for it has already defeated the aim of the action. The reason behind the struggles of many people is not because they are not taking the right actions, but because they are not taking it in a timely manner.

For people that are into seed planting, like the farmers, they will understand the need for proper timing. There are some seeds that do well in a particular season but in some other seasons, it will not do well. This is not because something is wrong with the seed but simply because of timing. I remember a time, when I was in primary school, when we went to the village for one of our end-of-term vacations. I helped my Grandpa who was a farmer in one of his farms. From there, I got to know how to plant seeds, but I did not fully understand the principle behind timing.

When I got home from the farm, I got some various types of seeds from my Grandpa's stocks and got some pots, about 6 of them, to do a test plant. I planted the seeds and expected that they would germinate in certain times. After a while, the seeds in some of the pots started to germinate and produced seedlings while the others did not. Feeling very surprised, I asked my Grandpa why it happened that way. He brought some seeds in his hands and asked me to show him the seeds I planted in each pot, then I pointed to the seeds that I planted in each pot. He smiled and told me that some of the seeds do well in rainy season why some are planted in other season. He told me that nothing was wrong with the seeds but I did not sow them at their right time.

One of the things that people need to understand about success is that it can be heavily influenced by time. Delaying or procrastinating an action that you should have taken at a given time until another time may make the potential result not to be achieved. You will be surprised what a delay of a split second can cause. I once watched a racing competition - it was a car race in one competition that was held in the neighbourhood where I grew up. It was a short-distance car race, so speed and timeliness were of utmost importance. At the sound of the gong, the rest of the drivers took off, but one of them had difficulty starting, so it made him lag in his take off. The slight delay in starting costed him the prize even though he was the favorite to win. This shows the disadvantage of not taking actions at the right time.

You may do the right things, you may even do them rightly, but if they are not done at the right time, the result will not yield as expected. There was an exam I sat for. The time allocated for the exam was so short that almost everyone did not finish when they called the "pen's off." So we had to submit the script like that. There was a guy who did not stop when everyone was asked to stop and was caught by the examiner. He obviously had things to write, which may be right, but because he did not stick to the time, his paper was rejected. So you see, in life, timeliness and proper timing can affect the result of your actions in ways that can never be imagined.

There are some helps that you would want to render to someone and it is its timeliness that will make it relevant. For example, if someone is thirsty and you give him water when it is needed the most, it will make much meaning to him. But if he has already passed out from dehydration, of what use will it be? Even in business, as a business person, it is not enough to know what to invest in, but you should also be able to know the "when," which talks about time. If you will be able to understand time, you have overcome a major part of the challenge you would have faced in life.
