You Are Useful: You Matter in Your Own Unique Way

We all know that sugar is sweet right? However, if you are cooking a pot of soup, in order to make it sweet, you will not put sugar but salt. This is because what matters in that case is salt, not sugar. This goes to prove that everyone, no matter how they are, is useful in some ways and may not be substituted perfectly by someone else. In view of this, you do not have to allow other people's standards to determine your worth, because you are worth more than that. If the salt follows the standards of the sugar, it will miss out of the beautiful pot of soup. Most times, why people miss out of the beautiful things of life is because they have left their real selves to pursue after someone else's self.

If you allow someone's nature to set a precedence for your own nature, the best you can ever achieve will be the second version of that person and the real you will be submerged inside the other person's nature. You will agree with me that no matter how much a photocopy is edited and no matter the ingenuity you put into it, it cannot be preferred over the original. This is why, even if a real currency note is rumpled and dirty, it still retains it worth and even if a fake currency note is clean and neat, it will still not be preferred over the original bill.

Why some people do not see their worth or why they believe that they are worthless is because they allow the judgement of others to becloud their sense of reasoning. If you judge all animals by their ability to fly, other animals that do not fly, like the fish, and land animals, will think that they are useless and worthless. The truth is that, that you do not fit into the standards and qualifications of others does not make you a failure. Even if a fish cannot fly, it can still swim, which the bird cannot do, so it is not a failure. The reason you are living is not to be a placeholder nor to fit into someone's standards but to make a difference and to create an impact. However, all these are possible only if you will discover yourself, believe in yourself, and pursue after the true realisation of yourself.

It is worthy to note that there is a definite duty you are meant to perform and that is why you are living and not merely existing, which if you do not perform, a void would be created. If you see yourself like that, you will place less emphasis on what anyone thinks of you. Always remember that your destination is very dissimilar from someone else, so you do not have to enroute with them. That someone has gotten to their destination does not mean that you are wasting your time, so do not be pressured into accepting their own destination as yours. This is why you have to first know where you are going to, so that you will know when you arrive there, and so that no one will force you into settling for the less. One of my friends used to say:

If you do not know where you are going to, everywhere will appear like it.

The journey to the actualization of one's purpose in life begins with the discovery and realisation of oneself. The beauty of life is not when you compete with someone else but when you complement them. The reason you have strengths in the place where someone else has weakness is to complement them and not to compete with them. In life, it does not matter if you come first, what matters is that you are fulfilling a particular purpose where it matters the most. In the human body for example, the stomach may not look to contribute like some other parts, but if it refuses to take in food, the whole body will be weak and not function properly. Similarly, even if others do not see your immediate value, it does not mean that you are worthless. So always have in mind that you have a value and you have a worth.
