2023 Nigerian Elections- Don't Buy the Lies

avatar

I played a lot of chess online today. It's a very good distraction, it takes me away from reading about the situation of things in the country. Nigeria is a very good country to live in if you are wealthy, Anything less puts you and your life in the hands of the government.

Last time, I wrote about how our Naira is suffering terribly and how the Dollar (USD) is the best asset right now. It's crazy because things are getting really bad ahead of the next general Elections!

INEC promises to deliver best-ever general election in 2023

We, however, need to first recognize the continuous improvement that INEC has made to deliver safe elections; and that is something that we were able to see first-hand,’

The body responsible for elections, INEC [Independent National Electoral Commission] has come out to promise us a good election which I know to be a blatant lie. Elections in Nigeria have never been good, it is always rigged, and full of bloodshed. I'm not trying to be an anarchist or dissident however, I'm so tired of reading lies daily.

Electoral violence: 1,149 Nigerians killed, INEC suffers 42 attacks, decries rising insecurity

In the last three elections held in 2011,2015 & 2019, Over 1100+ were killed. This killing brought about disruptions in many voting centers... If you read the above blog link you would see the documentation of how the elections were rigged and how we got into this situation.

When asked about what measures they have taken ahead of the 2023 elections, here is what they had to say.

"There are things that will be done but much of it cannot be a matter for publication. However, it is important, if we must reassure the voting public for the commission to work with stakeholders to ensure that a speedy example is made with some people to convey the message to the public that there is zero tolerance for such hazards and that voters will not only be protected but also seen to be protected.”

Punch

I just don't buy it. Alot of people are going to die trying to vote for a new president next year. It's democracy yet we don't seem to have power.

In Conclusion...

I haven't gotten my PVC (Permanent voters card) yet because I don't know if I will vote. The situation is just bad... They keep luring us to these things. I hope things get better someday.

Politics in Nigeria is like a movie script we are all acting to because everything looks staged to me, I don't doubt the country making a good progress to the upcoming election. I hope these evil leaders of ours don't come up with a late minute surprise, politics in the country is just messed up.
