Money! Money! Money! (Part 2)

INTRODUCTION

Previously, I wrote about money, its definition, the feeling that comes with having it and most of all the negative impact it can have on an individual. All these and more from a Nigerian perspective which I use regularly to express my thoughts. You can check that article here.

Having money is obviously better than not having. Analysing my post yesterday, An author from the @hodlcommunity said;

Money is necessary and mandatory in life to have, just everything has advantages and disadvantages, money’s advantages supersedes its disadvantages.

So in this new article which happens to be the second part, I will talk about the positive impact money can have on an individual because it's only fair to know the pros and cons of anything.

THE FEELING OF INDEPENDENCE

Honestly, the advocacy for money to be in my pocket has been a driving force for me. It has pushed me to do better, fight harder, think wisely and even kept me going when it got tough. This is because I have come to realize that money comes with that sense of self-confidence and belief that makes you outstanding. It gives you the notion that you can achieve anything with the right financial backing and a mindset that believes anything is possible. This feeling of Independence that comes with money can be seen in the way a person dresses, talks, thinks, relate with others and even walks, but do not be mistaken, money should not be an influence on your manner of approach. Remain humble because humility is a virtue that can be seen with or without money. For Independence, it comes with knowing that you can afford the best things in life and you can also take care of the ones you love. This kind of lifestyle that money brings is what we refer to in Nigeria as the Big Boy Lifestyle.

GAINING A RECOGNITION IN SOCIETY

Currently, the world is highly populated by various kinds of people from different continents. Although we are all unique in our different ways, we are still bound to the element of monotony due to the human factor embedded in us. This has made the Law or Constitution regard us all as equals. But let's be honest, we all know that not everybody is treated equally and not everybody gets what they want. Only the prestigious few are treated with societal gratification because of the recognition wealth has given them in society. Since it's well known that money makes the world go round, why don't we jump on the money train and make the world go round too? A good example is the 29-year-old CEO, Sam Bankman Friedman. He is the CEO of FTX, a crypto exchange. He recently became the latest Forbes list Billionaire by making his wealth through the crypto space. Through his vision and dedication, he has proven that there are people that MAKE MAKE MAKE money from crypto, which contradicts the idea of lots of people that feel crypto is a scam. Crypto can make you money as long as you can stay informed and Bankman Fried and other crypto billionaires have proven that. Bankman Fried's net worth of 18 billion dollars which led to his inclusion in Forbes List, has carved a recognition for him, which proves the point that money is means of gaining recognition in society.

THE SOCIAL COMPANY OF ELITE

The Book of Proverbs says

Iron sharpeneth iron

which means we are never really alone. People of the same feathers will always flock with people of the same feather, that's why some billionaires tend to be friends with other billionaires. As humans, we have that innate human instinct that always wants to roll with people with common goals. That explains why people with common goals have a strong bond. When money is in one's possession, it tends to attract the company of people with high social sagacity. You get to socialise with them, stay with them, question them to find out what makes them tick and even get insight into their personal lives and what they do differently that makes them outstanding.

THE STRENGTH TO FINANCE YOUR DREAMS

Aside from being a means of exchange, money can also be an essential tool for financing dreams. It gives the ability to bring about vital resources that aid talent. Talent is universal but opportunity is monumental. When talent meets opportunity it brings about success. This point reminds me of when I was a 15-year-old chess player looking for every opportunity to display my talent and hard work. Due to my heart-burning desire to excel in the chess world, I won an Under-16 National Chess Championship, which automatically qualified me for an International Tournament. But the bad omen came, I wasn't fortunate enough to grace such a prestigious event due to insufficient funds to cater for the tournament expenses. Yeah, I felt bad for not attending the tournament and I'm quite sure the organizers also felt bad for missing out on the chance of seeing a raw talent in its prime. This just goes to prove that I'm talented but lacked the money or sponsorship to finance my dream. You might be quite amazed by the role money plays in achieving goals. Even the authors of Unfair Advantage, Hasan Kubba and Ash Ali referred to having money as an unfair advantage in achieving goals in their book.

THE JOY OF FENDING FOR LOVED ONES

As a young Nigerian, I have been trained with the virtue that says "children, honour thy father and mother". As kids, we are made to understand that we need to take care of our parents and our kids will do the same for us. This built the goal of fending for my parents by making sure they eat the best, wear the best, live in the best comfort money can provide and I will forever stay committed to doing so. I never knew what the saying "your heart is in where the treasure lies" until I got to experience enormous joy that comes with fending for the ones you love. Although money can not buy happiness, it can provide things that can make you happy and make living less stressful.

IN CONCLUSION...

YES!! YES!! YES!! We all know that money can be the root of all evil but it can only be the root of such evil when the means towards its acquisition are illicit and the goals are not properly aligned.

I like the feeling of security that comes with holding money. Yesterday, for the first time in a while, i decided to be reckless with just 1k😂. I bought snacks and small chops and went to my friend's place and we ate while watching Anime. Although little, that was a reflection to the life of billionaires or wealthy people. Money makes you feel fulfilled about a lot of things because you worked for it.
