Sony Alpha ILCE-6400M - It's not the best, but...
Finally I got the Sony Alpha 6400 E-mount Camera with APS-C Sensor and with 18-135mm lens
I always wished I had a digital camera, in fact I had one long back. An Olympus in 2004, but with smart phones having some great cameras, slowly I felt it was outdated. The batteries were gone, and I did not feel like use it because my phone was giving much better pictures. But then I always had a desire to have a digital camera and finally I grabbed the Sony Alpha ILCE-6400 E-mount Camera that comes with a 18-135mm Power Zoom lens.
I am a novice on this field and consulted several friends on which one to start with. Some suggested to go with Cannon or Nikon that would come in a lesser price, but then I always have like for the Sony brand and someone recommended it to be better. And then choosing the model was not easy, it's like how much we can afford, given that there are so many choices. Initially I decided to go ahead with Sony Alpha 6600, but then doing some research on my own, I finally choose this one because of having a in-built flash. And this link did help me a lot in making the final call. In fact he is having some great reviews, which comes handy if you are planning to buy a camera. The Alpha 6600 comes with built-in image stabilizer with a better battery, but then adding an external flash would cost more, almost doubling the price of 6400M. I know I would need a flash for sure, and given that it's just the beginning of me exploring this field, it was better I go for the one that I can use for all purpose. The lens that comes with has some image stabilization , so that would do for me.
Usually I buy high value items from a brand store, because I have faces issues with Amazon resellers. Amazon does offer a 12 month interest free EMI, but then the Sony online store https://shopatsc.com/ had the price 3k lesser than Amazon with a 9 month interest free EMI. The only issue with the Sony store is that, they mostly run out of stock, in fact, it went out of stock immediately after I ordered. And their delivery mechanism is a bit different - they deliver it to the nearest Sony center and then you get a call from them and pick up from there or they can deliver at home as well. And unlike Amazon, the order status stays in confirmed until its delivered. They did call me once to say they will call back again, once it arrives. As I wrote in my last post, they called when we were just about to come back and there was no way, we would not have picked it.
We did ask to explain some basic operations after unboxing it there. The camera came with some freebies - a 64 GB Memory Card and Bag. He charged the battery for 15 minutes and advised to use the auto options for now. And I was exploring the music system in that time and these are shoot with my phone, if you would compare.
Here are some first shots taken, after it was ready with a little charge.
The images are less than half the size than that taken in my phone, but look at the clarity. My son was earlier telling me that its a unnecessary spent, but after looking at these he feels its worth it. He initially feared to even hold it, but then could not stop his curiosity to handle it. It was much smaller than we were anticipating. And as per the sales person the lens would suffice for our personal need, and there are tons of features to explore. I did go through the online manual several times, but it feels a bit complicated, so I would stick to auto options mostly for now. I am sure, I can find out some good posts here to learn more.
Soon you will see more pics from this novice photographer. Hopefully, this will serve few years at the minimum.

Congrats on this purchase, looks good! In fact, I have never owned a real camera so I cannot give you any advice (I have been always shooting just with my phones) but I´m sure you will enjoy a lot of fun with your new toy :)

Sony camera is the best, my brother has it, I have used it, so it was better than other cameras. And another important thing is the brand. I think brand is more important.
Congratulations on fulfilling your wish, by the way, everyone has this desire, but not everyone gets it you are very lucky. Now with this camera, you will take amazing pictures that you must share with us. And the pictures you have shared of your family are also very nice.
Well, actually this desire was since long, finally fulfilled almost after a decade. We need to be patient.

I am an addict fan of Sony when it comes to Camera. There is this type of Sony camera that has always been on my mind to purchase and thus model is "Sony A7iii". I once saw someone use it to take some cool shots and it wowed me since that day.

Awesome, I have the Canon 200D which is great too. I know that phone can capture the photos, but the picture quality is always better using Camera.
Canon 200D is indeed a great camera, someone advised me that as well. Just that I have an affinity for Sony, I went for this one.
The sony brand always takes great pictures. I actually want to get a camera, but its more difficult to get one now as less choice than before. I just use my smartphone so i not able to compare the difference, i believe that cameras produce sharper photos !
Cameras would definitely be better , else they won't survive. Smart phones are easy to use and we definitely have to carry that, this is just a little burden, but ok while going out.

In the meantime just use the auto setting. Take photos in RAW format, then edit in lightroom.

The sharpness of Sony is unparallel. With this budget, it is really a good camera. I might buy this one in the future, maybe in the next bull run if I generate some savings in crypto.

Congratulations! You just upped your game, didn't you? I know everyone loves their phones and they take great pictures! I use some but, I am still in love with my camera. I am a fan of the Sony and the mirrorless makes it even more enticing. The battery is great, the autofocus works well and the battery life is supposed to be better than a lot of other mirrorless models. I wish you much luck as you start off on the adventure. New cameras are exciting and they only get better as you discover new little tricks with them and learn the basics.

Nice shots. E-mount Cameras are awesome. I got one too. The Sony NEX VG-10 from 2010. I later got a Alpha 7r ii and it only lasted a year. The shutter screws got stuck and the shop that sold it to me suffered bankruptcy and the warranty became invalid. My older VG-10 works beautifully and I just took it on a trip to india from November to Feb.
I am still looking into getting a Sony FX 3. It's Love filming.
