One of the companies that caught my eye is RealT, which enables property investors to gain exposure to the real estate market from as little as $40 to $50!
I was thinking of something like that a few years ago, but as you mentioned it is hard to still have trust in centralized companies. The way I was envisioning was in the form of DeFi with smart contracts taking the burden of most of the tokenomics involved in the deal. I believe such type of investments will scale at some point when cryptocurrency will become more mainstream.
It is difficult to exclude a third party of some kind due to needing a property manager who handles tenants, maintenance, and other issues... I guess these types of DAO structures will improve over time...
