¡Hola Gente Bella! Pasaba por esta hermosa comunidad para compartirles un extra de la hermosa "Ciudad Blanca"-Arequipa, como les mostré en mi post anterior, (si aún no lo has visto te invito a que no te pierdas este recorrido). Visite el lugar con mi amiga, y durante mi estadía muchas veces se nos unieron mis amigos y guías locales.

Muy bien, como les mencioné, visite un museo. Por lo general no soy fan de este tipo de paseos, pero estaba incluído en un city tour que ya habíamos escogido de antemano,mi amiga y yo. Y además llamo mi atención que no fuese como el típico museo de esculturas antiguas ni nada de eso.

Sé que hay personas que aman esos lugares pero, para que yo desee conocer un museo debe ser algo de mi interés particular, o ¡bien diferente!

El interés particular no era mi caso en este museo sino más bien, la curiosidad. Se trataba de un museo de toros, ¡Sí! El Museo Menelik, es en honor a un toro gladiador, por lo cuál lleva su nombre. Y además también hace honor a la tradicional pelea de toros en Arequipa. Algo que me enteré en ese paseíto. Y que mis guías locales (amigos lugareños), no habían mencionado. Luego comentaron que ellos hasta han ido a las peleas.

Pues bien,el lugar se encuentra en Sabandia, algo no tan céntrico. Está situado en una especie de hacienda, esas casas coloniales. Se paga una entrada, la cual no es nada costosa. Y enseguida te recibe un señor con sombrero para informarnos que será nuestro guía. No es que sea muy grande el lugar, sino más bien para echarnos todo el cuento del ¿Por qué? De la existencia de este museo.

Resulta que además de ser algo tradicional, en las peleas de toros se destacó uno en particular. Menelik era el favorito de todos en su tiempo, tuvo muchas victorias y causó algunas bajas. Nos explicaban que en estás peleas (que actualmente también se realizan, pero en fechas tradicionales), competían dos toros. Ellos pelean con sus cuernos tratando de ensartar a su oponente hasta hacerlo huir y darse por vencido, o hasta matarlo.

Menelik tenía una técnica en particular, según nos contaba el guía, este ensartaba con su cuerno a su oponente por la parte baja de la oreja, muchas veces ocasionando así su muerte. Sobrevivió por mucho tiempo, y tristemente no murió en batalla, como suelen hacerlo los grandes héroes. Sino que quedó lesionado y con el paso del tiempo y si retiro de las peleas, fue a dar al matadero.

En su trayecto y siendo aún campeón paso por varios dueños, nos explicaban que era un costo mayor mantenerlo, que lo que ganaban con las peleas. Y por eso cambio mucho de dueños. Hoy en su honor, principalmente, está este museo, en el cual además de su historia y algunos videos antiguos de las peleas de toros y fotos del Gran Manelik, también encontraremos muchas figuras de estos imponentes animales.

Primeramente, en el patio central, nos encontramos con una escultura en hierro forjado de gran tamaño. Y aquí es donde, según la recomendación del guía, le agarramos las bolas al toro para la buena suerte. ¡Yo no quería, a mí me obligaron! Jajaja. Lo cierto es que nos fue muy bien en nuestro viaje.

Por su puesto, como les mencioné, iba en compañía de mi amiga, y eso hacia todo más divertido; hasta para los otros turistas que disfrutaban con nuestras ocurrencias y bromas. Fue un momento de risa, y hubieron varias poses de esta particular foto infaltable en esta visita al museo.

También nos llevaron a una escultura en la que podíamos fotografiarnos montando el toro. Obvio hay una pequeña escalera en la parte trasera, porque es muy grande y sin ella sería imposible subir. Lo bueno de todo esto es que no eran reales.

Ser perseguido por un toro no es tan gracioso como lo hacen parecer en las películas, ni divertido como lo hacen ver en España, y más si eres un niño pequeño. Jajaja eso me pasó de niña, lo acabo de recordar. Bueno éramos varios corriendo, hasta que un adulto nos salvó. ¡Cosas de la infancia!

Siguiendo en lo mío, no había mucho más que ver ahí en realidad, aúnque resultó ser una parada muy divertida e interesante, conocer un poco más de la cultura de la ciudad envuelta en cosas tan tradicionales como sus típicas "peleas de toros". Dato extra: En el lugar habían baños, estaban muy limpios. Y también en la entrada podías conseguir distintos tipos de bebidas para refrescarte durante la estadía, ya que el echarnos todo ese cuento tomaba algo de tiempo. Además de esperar los turnos para las fotos.

Por todo lo que pude escuchar y comprender, Menelik para ellos es un símbolo de lucha, constancia y tradición. En mi país, solo exiten los Toros Coleados, hasta donde sé. Y son entretenidos a mi parecer. Me gusta más el ambiente, pero igual me subo a "la manga" para ver más de cerca el coleo. ¡Si eres venezolano, sabes de lo que hablo! Y si no, y te interesa, déjame tu comentario y te lo explicó un poco más.

Al salir, en la misma zona o distrito de Sabandia, fuimos a un lugar campestre de esparcimiento. Fue aquí donde se nos unieron nuestros amigos. Y no conforme con la foto en la escultura del Toro, y de agarrarlo por las bolas, ¿Que creen? Decidí montarlo una vez más, pero está vez estaría en movimiento, no como la escultura.

Pero tampoco era real, no llegaría a tanto. ¡Pero sí a uno mecánico! Al principio me dió como miedito, pero igual fuí. Así soy cuando estoy decidida, aún con miedo pero voy. Al principio todo suave, luego giraba mucho como para marearte, y de pronto de arriba para abajo. Lo bueno es que le agarre la onda y no dejaba ir todo mi peso (que es mucho), hacía el lado al cual bajaba. Y eso me hizo ser quien más resistió de todos.

Triunfante y todo, ante mis amigos, pero igual no paraba hasta hacerte caer. Así que en algún momento debía ocurrir. Lo bueno es que como ven todo estaba súper resguardado para que la caída no fuese tan dolorosa. Pero había que tener cuidado con los cachos al caer. ¡Los del toro! Jajaja, te podían lastimar sino te novias rápido.

Hello Beautiful People! I was passing by this beautiful community to share with you an extra of the beautiful "White City"-Arequipa, as I showed you in my previous post, (if you haven't seen it yet I invite you not to miss this tour). I visited the place with my friend, and during my stay many times we were joined by my friends and local guides.

Well, as I mentioned, I visited a museum. I am not usually a fan of this kind of tours, but it was included in a city tour that my friend and I had already chosen beforehand. And it caught my attention that it wasn't like the typical museum of ancient sculptures or anything like that.

I know there are people who love those places but, for me to want to know a museum it must be something of particular interest to me, or else different!

I was not particularly interested in this museum, but rather curious. It was a bullfighting museum, yes! The Menelik Museum is in honor of a gladiator bull, which is why it is named after him. And it also honors the traditional bullfight in Arequipa. Something I found out on that little walk. And that my local guides (local friends), had not mentioned. Then they commented that they have even been to the fights.

Well, the place is in Sabandia, not so central. It is located in a kind of hacienda, those colonial houses. You pay an entrance fee, which is not expensive at all. You are immediately greeted by a man with a hat to inform us that he will be our guide. It is not that the place is very big, but rather to tell us the whole story of why? Of the existence of this museum.

It turns out that besides being something traditional, in bull fights one in particular stood out. Menelik was everyone's favorite in his time, he had many victories and caused some casualties. It was explained to us that in these fights (which are also performed nowadays, but on traditional dates), two bulls competed. They fight with their horns trying to skewer their opponent until they make him flee and give up, or even kill him.

Menelik had a particular technique, as the guide told us, he would stick his horn through the lower part of his opponent's ear, many times causing his death. He survived for a long time, and sadly he did not die in battle, as the great heroes usually do. He was injured and with the passage of time and his retirement from fighting, he was sent to the slaughterhouse.

During his journey and while he was still champion, he passed through several owners, who explained to us that it was a higher cost to keep him than what they earned from the fights. And that is why he changed owners so much. Today, mainly in his honor, is this museum, in which in addition to its history and some old videos of the bull fights and photos of the Great Manelik, we will also find many figures of these imposing animals.

First, in the central courtyard, we came across a large wrought iron sculpture, and this is where, according to the guide's recommendation, we grabbed the bull's balls for good luck. And this is where, according to the guide's recommendation, we grabbed the bull's balls for good luck. I didn't want to, they made me! Hahaha. The truth is that we did very well on our trip.

Of course, as I mentioned, I was in the company of my friend, and that made everything more fun; even for the other tourists who enjoyed our jokes and jokes. It was a moment of laughter, and there were several poses of this particular photo that is a must on this museum visit.

We were also taken to a sculpture where we could be photographed riding the bull. Obviously there is a small ladder at the back, because it is very big and without it it would be impossible to climb. The good thing about all this is that they were not real.

Being chased by a bull is not as funny as they make it look in the movies, nor as fun as they make it look in Spain, especially if you are a little kid. Hahaha that happened to me as a child, I just remembered it. Well, there were several of us running, until an adult saved us. Childhood stuff!

Moving on, there wasn't much else to see there really, even though it turned out to be a very fun and interesting stop, getting to know a bit more about the culture of the city wrapped up in such traditional things as its typical "bull fights". Bonus fact: There were restrooms in the place, they were very clean. And also at the entrance you could get different types of drinks to refresh yourself during your stay, since it took some time to drink all that stuff. Besides waiting for the turns for the photos.

From everything I could hear and understand, Menelik for them is a symbol of struggle, perseverance and tradition. In my country, only the Toros Coleados exist, as far as I know. And they are entertaining in my opinion. I like the atmosphere better, but I still go up to "la manga" to get a closer look at the coleo. If you are Venezuelan, you know what I am talking about! On our way out, in the same area or district of Sabandia, we went to a country recreation place. It was here that our friends joined us. And not satisfied with the photo on the sculpture of the bull, and grabbing him by the balls, what do you think? I decided to ride him one more time, but this time it would be in motion, not like the sculpture.

But it wasn't real either, I wouldn't go that far, but I would go to a mechanical one! At first I was a little scared, but I went anyway. That's how I am when I'm determined, still scared but I go. At first everything was smooth, then it was spinning a lot as if to make you dizzy, and suddenly up and down. The good thing is that I got the hang of it and didn't let all my weight (which is a lot) go to the side where I was going down. And that made me the one who resisted the most of all.

Triumphant and all, in front of my friends, but I still didn't stop until I made you fall. So at some point it had to happen. The good thing is that as you can see everything was super protected so that the fall was not so painful. But you had to be careful with the horns when falling, the bull's horns! Hahaha, they could hurt you if you don't get married fast.
