Assassin Creed Odyssey: My Review of the Game

It’s been over a decade since the original release of Assassin’s Creed and in that time, much has changed. Gaming as a whole has evolved from simple 2D graphics with barely enough detail to dress up your avatar, to a fully immersive 3D experience complete with character development, jaw-dropping scenery, intricate storylines, and challenging puzzles. In fact, it’s almost hard to remember how primitive the first games were compared to today’s standards. It seems like every new title needs to be bigger and better than the last one but for some reason, I keep getting stuck playing video games about assassins. Yes… I know that sounds weird given that this article is about Assassin’s Creed Odyssey but you have to understand that after playing through an entire series of games based on people who stab others so they can take their place without anyone noticing… it starts to get weird. So here we are though – another game about an assassin called ‘Odyssey’. It seems like everything was bigger and better this time around though because there were so many great things about this game...

The Storyline is Outstanding

The storyline is the most important aspect of any game – it’s what keeps you playing. You can have the most stunning graphics in the world, but if the story is dull and boring, you’re not going to get very far. Any good storyline will draw you in to the point where you feel like you’re actually there – living the life of your character and experiencing the hardships that come with it. Now, I’m not saying that the Assassin Creed series has always had a great storyline, but this latest instalment sure does. The characters are so well-developed that you form real relationships with them. And although you’re playing as the ‘good guy’ throughout, there’s a sense of realism that makes you feel like you’re actually doing something.

Combat is Tense and Exciting

In the early games, combat was often simple and boring – however, there were some attempts made to make it more challenging in later releases. Now, I wouldn’t say that anyone playing games from the AC series actually expects to be an assassin any time soon, but if you did want to make it appear as real as possible, you’d expect it to be a challenge – and that’s what this latest game delivers. It feels more like a fight to the death than a game – you have to keep your wits about you because if you let your guard down, you’re dead. Your opponents are skilled and they’re not going to fall down after the first hit. You have to take them down as quickly as you can – but be warned because they’ll be doing the same to you.

It’s Beautiful to Watch and Play

If graphics mean anything – and I think they do – then this latest instalment has to be one of the most beautiful games available. The scenery is so realistic that you can spend hours just roaming around and admiring your surroundings. The developers have added so much detail to this game that you can almost smell the flowers as you walk past them. And not only is it a joy to look at but you can also interact with your surroundings. For example, you can pick flowers and bouquets, climb trees, or even go fishing if you want to catch something for dinner. There are lots of side quests to keep you busy and you can also choose to take part in a relationship if you want to wind down after a long day and enjoy a bit of romance.

Multiplayer Co-op Is a Blast!

If you love the single player game but are bored of doing everything on your own, this latest instalment comes with a multiplayer option. You can team up with your friends and take on challenges together. You’re not limited to a few specific challenges either – you can do pretty much whatever you like. You can explore, hunt, fight, and even go fishing together – the choice is entirely up to you. This is a really cool feature and it makes the game much more enjoyable when you have someone to share your experiences with.

So What’s the Catch?

So far, everything sounds amazing – and it is. However, there are a few things that might put you off. First of all, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is incredibly long. It has over 30 hours of content and if you’re anything like me, you’ll probably get side-tracked and play it for a lot longer than you intended to. Secondly, this game is very addictive. Occasionally, you’ll have to force yourself to stop playing – but only because you have other things you have to do. And finally, it’s incredibly expensive. With all the DLCs and add-ons, you can invest hundreds of pounds in this game and although it’s worth every penny, it can get quite expensive.

Final Words

Overall, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is a fantastic game. It has everything you’d expect from a game of this calibre – tons of exciting challenges, a gripping storyline, and a gorgeous landscape to explore. If you’re looking for a game that will totally immerse you in the experience, look no further. This is the game for you.

Thank you 💖

I don't agree or understand how you came to say that the combat of the previous games is more boring or old than this one, me playing Assasin'S Creed Oddyssey rather that was my biggest dislike, as the combat is clunky, boring, with the same attacks and sequences over and over again and losing all the dynamism and combos that before could be done in a natural way. For such a new game, I found the combat to be overly simple and boring.
