A Land Card Set Is Entering Praetoria

Hello, there! @saydie here, playing Splinterlands everyday!

It was November last year when we first get the news about the Inaugural Land Cards. These are cards that can only be used for land gameplay and was equipped with different land specific abilities. The way that they can be crafted is by using different land resources and a item called Cinder that can be created by burning cards.

Fast forward to present and land will now have its own land card set that is planned to be launched at the end of the month, called Visions of Verico. Similar to the Inaugural Land Cards, the new card set can only be used on land.

Visions of Verico

The upcoming land card set will consist of 48 cards, all of which are of common rarity, so to get a card to max level, you will need to have a minimum of 400 copies for each card for a regular foil and 38 copies to have a max gold foil. Meanwhile, Black Foil, Gold Foil Arcane, and Black Foil Arcane are already at max level. Each of the packs will be priced at 2$ and will contain 20 cards that will have the same collection power as the inaugural land cards.
There are multiple options to buy land packs. Players can either purchase through USDC, Credits, as well as DEC with a 5% bonus. For this set, there will only be 250,000 packs that will be available for sale. As of the moment, the sale is planned to launch on June 30th and will run throughout the month of July. One thing that is not clear is whether there will be a pack-burning mechanism in case there are unsold packs, or if they will be sent to the DAO.
Overall, there will be 6 abilities that will come with the set, which include:
Toil & Kin - Provides a production bonus if one of your workers has the matching Bloodline.
Rationing Lite - Reduces the amount of grain consumed on plot harvest, but will not count on any plot with base Production Power over 20,000.
Alteration (Skin Factory) - Activates at card level 4 and will only activate one time per plot. Land cards with this ability can receive a skin.
Glint Recovery (Glint Bomb) - Is similar to Energy Bomb, but has Glint instead, with amounts ranging from 1000 Glint to 1 million Glint.
Dark Discount - Reduces the amount of DEC required to stake for the plot to reach 100% efficiency.
Fortune Seeker - When placed on a plot, this ability entitles the account to participate in the weekly Fortune Draw for premium foils through a separate Land Bucket.
Land Bucket Cards (2064) by Foil Type - GF, BF, GFA, BFA
| Foil Type | Description | # per card | # of cards | Total cards |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gold Foil | 1 CC - no # | 38 | 48 | 1824 |
| Black Foil | Max - # | 2 | 48 | 96 |
| GFA | Max - # of # | 2 | 48 | 96 |
| BFA | Max - # of # | 1 | 48 | 48 |
| Totals | 43 | 48 | 2064 |
Among these abilities, the Skin Factory and Glint Bomb will have an ability expiration unless they gets renewed. For Skin Factory, the ability will have a 1 year life and after that, you can choose to renew it for a year by paying 3$ in Credits or USDC, a 5-year early bid renewal for 10$, or a 5 year renewal for 15$.
Meanwhile, the Glint Bomb ability will have its effect active for 2 years, and will have a 5$ annual renewal after that.
Looking at the price renewal, it seems reasonable, for what you can get from it. At the very least, I think it will be a good idea to renew Glint Bomb, as the need for Glint continues to grow, and it will be difficult to satisfy those needs with only the Glint earned in ranked battle.
On the other hand, it seems that the Fortune Seeker ability will become obsolete once all the premium cards in the land bucket has been pulled.
Mystery Card Contest
The Mystery Card Contest consists of six individual raffles for the right to name and pick the character type for the Mystery cards that will be shipped with unknown art and names for each element. To enter, the player will just have to own copies of the mystery card and the total number of copies they have will be the same number of their entries.

Closing
And that it for the upcoming land set. Overall, I am was ok with it, since all the proceeds from the set will be going to the DAO. That said, I feel that 48 common card just feels to many, given that most of the cards will probably have the same abilities. And when I checked into the previous town hall and it seems that some of this card will be dual element, so even a single card can function on different land types just like what was shown below.
